No, it isn't. But as long as none of us have a way of escaping, I want to make the most of my time here.

but knowledge is important, and it is a good reason.

Is it optimistic? I always felt I was being opportunistic. I like to hope that one day I'll be able to use what I've learned here if I'm able to go back home.

Maybe that itself is optimistic. I guess you could be both without much conflict.

what if you do not remember when you return to your world?

Then it would be a shame to have forgotten all this time, but at least I wouldn't be any worse for it. That is, aside from not being able to explain where I'd been for the past year.

For a year? I don't think I could believe it myself.

people will believe many things when the truth is more difficult to bear.

That's usually the case, but my friends and I learned our lessons about that a little while before I was taken here. Although in this case, finding the truth would be more difficult than accepting it.

then you will simply have to be inventive.

I guess so. I wonder if we could find the Fleet again, if we all gave it our best effort...

it may well depend on which world we a borne into.
some have ships and flying machines and this technology.
others do not.
they will not be able to find the fleet.

I'm not sure which of the two we fall into. The technology existed long ago, but any knowledge about how to leave our world would have to be recovered.

We've done other near-impossible things, when they were important enough. Maybe we could find the Fleet after all, but I hope we'll never have to.

i cannot see a reason why it would be necessary.
perhaps when you return it will be a distant memory, and you will not have to consider it.

I don't think it would be necessary, either. But we wouldn't know that if I forgot, and I think my friends and I would be very concerned if I were to disappear for so long without remembering why.

I hope I do remember, if I can go back home.

Because of that, yes, and because I know it would bother me and my friends if I didn't remember.

It's always worked for us before, but our situation now changes things. I hope things won't turn out to be too much trouble in the end.
