I wonder if those who say have done so, in truth. For existence is a bleak one, with no hope at all.

And those things, in my experience, die, without hope to sustain them.

One of my cousins once said that "Hope" - what we call "estel" - is perhaps sometimes better rendered as "trust" or perhaps, "faith" - for without trust in an end that you might not see but believe will come, it cannot endure.

By that definition, I rather think it would. But I suppose, it all depends how you define it, eh?

words can mean many things to many people.

They can. But those things that drive us, I find, are very much the same.
