The reason is simple. Delusions of grandeur.

That's . . . frighteningly accurate. At least where I'm from.

Of course it is. People are the same, no matter where they come from or how they appear. Why should their nature ever change?

I wouldn't say it's in their nature, per say, but it usually is the ones who hold some sort of power that end up that way.

But there are people who don't. Who use what power they have to do good things instead.

I can't say I've met many of those.

You will. There's a lot of those types here.

[both eyebrows shoot up]

I know plenty of nice people.

[ She looks him over, assessing. ]

I suppose I cannot say otherwise. Though I've never been told I'm . . . nice.

[he purses his lips, then shrugs a shoulder, huffing out a noise]

I don't spend a lot of time like this, so someone asking about what I am and trying to understand it instead of assuming something is - nice. To me, at least.

I don't make assumptions of things I do not know of.

It seems only right to say what I believe.

Mm, there's nothing wrong with that. Not a lot of people do that.

Not enough people. It's frustrating.

Frustrating? Why?

Because they're hard to understand. People want . . . niceties. Comfort. Compassion.

[ She makes a face. ] I wasn't trained in such things. But now I'm expected to know them.

Ah. Well . . . not a lot of people are used to someone being as straight-forward as you seem to be.

[ Even Bucky and Natasha, who are similar to her are not the same. Furiosa is, a little, but Cara isn't sure. Not yet. ]
