Does anyone have any apples or honey or anything close to either from the last stop? I was...just thinking about it today. [Softer.] Not that I even know how to tell when sundown is in space.

[But she knows it's close to Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish new year, but nailing down a date would take calculating she can't do based on a moon that's not even here. She's not really a religious person and has some definite issues with god especially after everything she's been through back home, but the traditions remind her of better times when she was young with her family. She didn't think about it much in the last place because they didn't run off of a calendar she was familiar with, but here it brings back memories.]

Anyway, I'd trade for some if you do. We'll work something out.

Yeah, when I was 7 the cookie jar mysteriously broke. I said I didn't know what happened, but I totally did.

You know those weird breakfast machines they sometimes had in movies or cartoons, when they wanna introduce the eccentric sciencey character?

[Raises an eyebrow.] Did you do something adorable?

[ he's trying the whole remember there were good times too bit, see if that helps him get over it and feel a little saner, cuz focusing on his anger definitely hasn't. ]

Yeah...it didn't go well. It was a middle of the night experiment, and we cleaned it all up and never told my mom. She just woke up to shards of her cookie jar in the trash.

[She'll support him in that. She rubs his arm.] It sounds like a lot of fun. Maybe not for the cookie jar.]

It wasn't a good house to be breakable at. Or flammable.

[ there were a lot of weird experiments going on. ]

I'm glad you're neither. [He is, of course, both. But she still sees him as unbroken. Unburned.]

[ he is, in fact, the most broken thing in that house. or at least, that's what he feels like.

he just smiles at her and stands back up, suddenly needing to distance himself from the subject. ]

You want some water or something?

[Too much then. She nods.] Sure. Thank you.

[ he's still trying to find his footing, a balance that's not completely uncomfortable. he grabs two glasses and fills them up, heading back to the table, he hands her one before sitting down and taking a sip of his own. ]

[She reaches over and rests her other hand on his knee. Not trying to be provocative. Just supportive.] You're the best.

[ he smiles. ]

You're easy to impress. I like it.

[He's not wrong.] Ever feel like you put too much effort in considering how easy it is?
