Do you need something? [He scowls, then pauses with realization. Pulls back, his expression shifting to something timidly fearful.] ... You're not a librarian, are you?
no subject
Not really, I was just wandering past and thought you could use a wake up call before you caused some water damage to that book. [He peers over at the ruined page and chuckles.] Good thing I'm not a librarian or you'd have to pay for that. I wonder what the fine is for damaged books here.
no subject
[Oh, who was he kidding? Slamming the book shut, he tosses it into the mountain of books that surround him, waving a hand at his rude as heck intruder.] The fine is irrelevant. I'll blame it on you if I'm found out.

[There's a roll of his eyes as he snaps the book shut and it disappears from his hands, having been sent back to book mountain.] That's going to be a story to tell. "Oh excuse me, but the book got damaged because this gentleman woke me up while I was sleeping on it!"
no subject
How did you do that?
no subject
It's just one of the many neat tricks I have as a magical being. A demon, to be precise. [He sounds really proud of that fact.]
no subject
You're not a demon. [With a sigh, he shifts positions, one leg pressed against his chest, while the other dangles off the table.] A magical being, though. I can believe that. So what are you really?
no subject
You know, a lot of people say that, but when I do this--[Without any flourish, Cole changes into Belthazor and when he keeps speaking, it's a weird double voice, one deep and one light overlapped over each other into one voice.]--people say differently. Demons don't always work how you think they do in other worlds. I've had a couple people say that I'm possessing this body, but where I'm from, only possessor demons and the Source of All Evil can do that.

[Setting the ink down, he crosses his legs, resting his elbow on his leg and his head on his hand.] But let's say you are as you claim. It'd certainly excuse the rudeness. [Ah, but he's straying from the point.] What brings on the change? I'm assuming you're a human or something lesser when you don't look like that, yes? So what brings it on? Surely, you can't control it.
no subject
[He's just going to grab a chair and sit down since it looks like he's going to be here a while.] The change is completely controllable outside of major injuries or certain spells. It's one of the perks of being only half demon instead of a full blooded one. While I'm in this form, I gain great power but at the cost of possibly reverting back to my demonic ways of killing people. [And here he changes back to his human form.] But while I'm in this form, I have a drop in strength, but I also can hide from other magical beings and not have to worry about the possibility of becoming evil.
no subject
[With a thoughtful noise, he leans back, freeing one hand to gesture.] And what type of power do you get from it? Any particular sort of magic or... [He searches for the words and finds none.]-Forgive me, I'm rather new to the concept. I'm afraid I don't know any of the terms.
no subject
Magic works since that's what it is. I can do basic things like cast spells and make potions and most demons have the ability to throw energy balls and shimmer or, if you're a powerful enough demon, flame. You saw item summoning, but I can also cause weaker beings to burst into flame and I have telekinesis.
[There's a short pause.]
...You want a demonstration of the less murderous stuff?
no subject
[Sliding off the table, he lands neatly on his feet, brushing off his hands.] Provided they're not destructive, I'd love a demonstration. [Clapping his hands, he holds them out.] I'm assuming it'll be telekinesis? As you've said, you've already done item summoning and anything with flame would be too violent.
no subject
Telekinesis isn't all that interesting. I just do this [and he waves his hand slightly so that a book on the top of the pile goes flying into the air and into his hand] and that's not very fun to watch. Now shimmering is a bit more exciting to watch.
[Cole shimmers away and after a long moment, shimmers back into his chair, looking genuinely amused.]

[He sounds distracted, mulling over an issue he can't quite find justification for.] But what's the purpose of it? Why not simply appear there without the effect? It wouldn't change much. The action would still be the same. Is there some reason why you have to-[he sways his hands, mimicking the motion of the shimmer]-in order to do it?
