[The face on the communicator is of a young man dressed in a strange uniform with blue accents. The camera isn’t facing down or upside-down or anything, so it’s almost like he might know what he’s doing.

Bridge waves at the camera with a smile.]

Hello! My name is Bridge Carson, cadet of S.P.D. Earth and first I was on this big ship that was really kind’ve small because there wasn’t much to the part I was in, but it was also kind’ve big again because it was mostly empty. But now I’m on one of the smaller ships, the Bloodsport which...now that I think about it, that’s not a very good name for a ship; who wants to be on a ship called ‘Bloodsport?’ Sounds...well...bloody.

[Huh. Oh well]

Anyway, just wanted to say hi and meet some of you since it seems like we’re gonna have some time to get to know each other. Although, I get the feeling I might have missed a step or...three.

[Based on the movement of the camera, those watching might notice that Bridge has walked part way back the way he came as though he might be able to pick up those missed steps. He shakes his head as he dismisses the idea and another one occurs to him.]

Oh, and if anyone else is from S.P.D. just raise your hand. Well, with the video on.

For anyone on the Bloodsport, they can find their new engineer just about anywhere on the ship as he explores every nook and cranny, even the ones he probably has no business poking into. However, he spends a lot of time of his first couple days, predictably, in the engine room..

Anyone who stumbles into the engine room, however, might want to watch their step as the floor is littered with metal and wires and debris. Bridge himself is half under a consol. Don’t worry, he has everything under control.

You doing okay? It's a lot to take in all at once, I know. Do you need anything?

[Wow Someone just as friendly! This fleet was turning out to be alright with how many friendly people he was meeting. And this guy seemed especially friendly!]

Hey there, Sorey, nice to meet you! You're an Engineer too? Have you tried to take the engine apart yet? I think I'm going to and see how it all works, maybe I can make it better. Or make it make toast, whichever.

[Oh, but, did he need anything?]

I don't think I need anything. [Here's his thinking face.] Well, nothing you could give me, anyway. I'd love a way to contact my friends or have my lab back or have a huge ile of like twenty pieces of toast, but it's okay.

Really, this isn't so weird to me. Space is everyday and so are fleets, it's the 'suddenly waking up somewhere I don't know' that's more jarring. Feels too much like the time I got kidnapped. But no one seems to be trying to kill me here, so it's better.

[whoa bro that's some mighty fine conversating] ...you know, I can make you toast. If you don't mind potato bread.

[Bridge's face lights up. His smile is brighter than a sun and he's clearly excited by the idea.]

Really? That would be great! I've never had potato bread before, but I bet it'll still taste good. I can make a toaster out of one of the consuls too, if there isn't one. Do you know if there's any butter anywhere?

[Oh, Sorey, you just became his favorite.]

I think I've got some somewhere! Let me check our kitchens, I'll bring over the bread and butter and you bring the stories, because it sounds like you've got an awful lot to tell.

Definitely! I've probably got all kinds of stories. And I bet you do too, we could share them.

Do you like toast? My team almost never eats it with me, so if you don't that's fine, but if you do, I'd love to share.

Yeah of course, what's not to love about toast? Is there some kind of bias against toast where you're from? [doot doot packin up the bread and butter]

I don't think so! But every time I make enough toast for my team, they don't want any, so I end up eating it all myself.

My commander asked me about eating so much toast once, but when I explained and offered some to him, he just kind've...growled at me. Maybe dogs can't eat toast?

I hadn't thought of that before.

Your commander's a dog? [buddy] Well, dogs can eat plants and stuff but they're mostly carnivores. So he probably didn't want it. Or maybe he doesn't like butter?
