[ today, winn is coming to you live from the tourist's cargo hold. clearing his throat, he offers the camera a little smile ]

Sup, Fleeters, Winn Schott here, hope space is treating you well today. I got three things to run by you today, I'll try to be quick.

So one, I got - [ he moves the camera away from his face to focus on a box of 10 bears, on the large side. they have been dyed, and colorful patches have been sewn decoratively all over their torsos and arms. when he got them, they were covered by straightjackets, so this is his fix ] these. If anyone wants one, you're welcome to them. [ unless you're a tourist crew member. they will have magically run out if one of you tries to get one. he doesn't care if you can see them, they're not staying on this goddamn ship, ok. ] If any are left over I'm gonna leave them in Discovery One on the Iskaulit for public use in case anyone turns tiny.

[ he turns the camera back to him ]

Two - for those of you who don't know, Cisco and I have been running lectures, concerts, and whatever else people have been willing to volunteer their time for on the Iskaulit, and we're running low now. If you've lectured before and you wanna go again - you're more than welcome to, if you're a newcomer - likewise. Just drop me or Cisco a line with your name, topic, title if you have one, and availability if you actually have a schedule to keep - and we'll add you to the roster.

Three - Hank - don't let it be said I don't pay my debts.

[ turning on the karaoke machine he built with cisco, he proceeds to offer the network his rendition of the dire strait's walk of life. once he's done singing, a little flushed and embarrassed because last time he did this it was with cisco this is so much more terrifying on his own!! he gives the camera a little nod and signs off. ]

I'm not gonna take a lot but, you know, it was always the best part of giving blood for me.

[ he sits down, putting the cookies down within her reach. ]

I gotta be honest though - I've never done this before. I mean I've been learning with Beverly and Hank so I got the theory down! But I never actually...you know...I'm a computer science major. [ a little nervous now. but it's all good it's all good he's got this! he thinks. ]

[athru]

I know there's a blood drive here, but... Mm.

[ She glances away. Raven doesn't trust a lot of people with her blood, not after Trask and the Sentinels, but... She trusts Winn. It settles around her like a dead weight, and she breathes out. ]

Take it and - look with Hank. He can explain it all to you.

[winn]

[ he nods. ]

Would you rather we call him in to do it? [ he doesn't want to make her uncomfortable and heck, he wouldn't trust him after hearing his own confession. ]

[athru]

Not unless you're uncomfortable with needles. I can call him?

[winn]

I'm good if you are, it's your arm. I'll - be slow and careful.

[ he nods, looking around for the needle, vial, and disinfectant. ]

[athru]

It's fine. I trust you.

[ Which is true. Raven nods to the desk, where she's laid some out, and she adjusts her weight, making herself more comfortable before she offers out her arm, not really pausing.

Winn won't build Sentinels. Winn just wants to see what's cool. She can handle that. ]

[winn]

[ winn would make something to stop sentinels. nobody gets to hurt the people he loves. and that is just a gross misuse of robots who could be seriously cool!

he smiles and nods before getting to work - very carefully and by the book. he doesn't touch her until his hands steady - a little nerves there, nothing too serious. ]

[athru]

[ Raven watches until he's done, and then she's leaning back, shifting a little as she glances down at her wrist.

... Just as easy as last time. ]

You need to look at it under a microscope.

[winn]

[ he start to nod excitedly - until he catches a glimpse of her face. ]

Hey -- you okay?

[athru]

It's fine. You're not going to built robots with my blood.

[winn]

[ slight frown - before his eyes grow wide. ]

That's a thing? [ it sounds like a very cool thing, so he can't help but get a little excited even as her expression, words, and everything he knows about robots and x-men are telling him that's a terrible thing. ]

[athru]

They were called Sentinels.

[ She turns her head away, frowning. ]

They used my DNA to make them able to transform into - anything, really, so they could hunt and kill mutants.

[winn]

-- that's what Sentinels are?

[ okay nothing cool about them anymore. that's what killed kitty's parents. ]

Raven I would never make something like that. If you rather we destroy this sample right now - I'll do it.

[athru]

That's what they were in one of our futures.

[ They're not cool at all, and the ones in Washington were bad enough.

She pauses, considering, before she shakes her head. ]

I trust you, Winn.

[winn]

[ he doesn't take this sort of trust lightly. looking at the sample, he turns his head back to her. ]

It's never leaving this lab, and as soon as I'm done looking, it's destroyed.

[ he promises. he doesn't trust himself, not with that thing in his head that could potentially take control over him at any second. suddenly feeling the pressure of that weighing on him all at once. ]

[athru]

[ Raven takes a deep breath before she relaxes, nodding her head. ]

... Thank you, Winn.

[winn]

[ he gently puts his hand on hers ]

Thank you, for trusting me. I'll get the microscope - [ he figures she's eager to get this done. he's starting to feel a little anxious too, the last thing he wants is to be responsible for sentinels popping up on the fleet. ]

[athru]

[ Turning her hand, she wraps her fingers around his and squeezes. ]

Go ahead.

[ It takes a little more than her blood for Sentinels to exist, and she draws her hand back as she pushes the microscope over. ]

[winn]

[ he imagines as much. he can't help but be curious about mutant-machine hybrids - the scientist in him is fascinated by what that process could be like, but even he knows there are some things that are out of bounds.

smiling a little at her, he takes a peek. ]

Do you know Hank's explanations by heart yet? [ he kinda wants her to tell him about it. he loves hanging out with hank, but this sort of feels like their thing right now. ]

[athru]

Sort of. "Your cells age at half the rate of a normal human. When you're 40, you'll still have the leucocytes of a teenager. You have the most incredible cellular structure I've ever seen."

[ Her lips twitch. ]

That's how he flirted.

[winn]

[ he snorts ]

He's so lucky he found you.

[ like he's any better. ]

[athru]

You don't forget the first time a man compliments your DNA.

[ It got... Bad about that, after, but - that was the past. ]

[winn]

[ shaking his head a little, because he really doesn't get a say here.

he was so embarrassing when he and kitty first met. ]

[ Her lips twitch a little. ]

[ that gets a bright smile, getting her and hank to laugh and make jokes is one of his favorite hobbies, okay. ]

Well done, I think I just turned mine into corn syrup.
