[And the night has arrived! Dorian put out an open invitation, and anyone who is interested is welcome to dress up and meet up for a night of dancing and fawning over each other. Make sure to wear your best, everyone! It's a very special episode of Drift Fleet!]

((OOC: There was an open invitiation, but even if your character never replied or has had personal contact with Dorian, feel free to assume he's let them come along or be dragged along by someone else! I'll be tagging some threads, but if you want a thread to be closed, please just say so in the header.))

[Crowley is, of course, fashionably late. He's wearing a suit he commisned from Garak. He won't be dancing, not ever, but he will be wandering around, looking so casual he might as well be posing. Which he probably is.

Shame about the lack of alcohol.]

[Dorian almost passes him by, but there's something about him that he stands out. So he stops, and inclines his head a bit, smiling.]

Glad to see that you could make it.

[Crowley flashes Dorian a grin.]

As if I would miss it.

Thank the Maker you're here. We can use all the charming company we can find.

[He chuckled softly.]

Would you care for a dance?

Quite literally.

[He shrugs a little.]

Not that I'm begrudging your company, believe you me, I'm not. I just don't dance. It's a demon thing.

[Faye got him to do it once, and once alone, and that was when he was turned human. He has no intention of making a fool of himself on the dancefloor tonight. ]

[Dorian looks him over, and then tilts his head a bit.]

Demon, truly? Are you like a spirit, then? Or more like a desire demon?

Oh, well, I have been known to fire up desire once in a while. [He smirks. ] But my thing is temptation. It's my M.O.

As for the rest, no. I'm probably not the sort of demon you're thinking of. I'm all...Holy Bible sort.

Ah, temptation, I see.

[And at that, he frowns a bit. Dorian knows his force of will has always been iron against temptation, but that truly was an ugly word. Temptation was him giving into the darker parts of Tevinter, becoming the man the Magisters were, giving into the almost reptilian parts of his mind. The parts that told him if he only pushed someone a certain way, if he spun lies of beautiful words, he could wrap someone around his finger.

He tried so hard to rid himself of temptation. To survive against it, almost to redeem himself as much as Tevinter. No, he was not a bad man, not so much as he said, not for his actions. His actions were generally for the best.

He faulted himself for the things that society had taught him, for those first instincts. He faulted himself for those small temptations to do things that made him feel sick when the thoughts came to him.

Everything he did, it was against those dark temptations, the impressions of the thousband coiled vipers in the Magistry.

He tilted his head softly.]

And what is this Holy Bible? What does that entail, exactly?

[Oh, if only he knew how close he was with those snake allegories. Crowley watches, amused. ]

Unclench. I'm not working tonight.

[He gives a shrug.]

It's a very long story, that people have based their faith around.

[serpentis]

Ah, I see. So something like the Chant of Light, then?

[He shifts a bit, watching Crowley. Dorian is, despite everything, a man of some faith. The idea that there is nothing out there- no god, nothing watching over them- is more terrifying than the idea that people need to stuffer, for some reason.

He doesn't by into the Chantry propaganda, but he has faith.]

If that has something to do with a single Creator and suchlike, then yes.

[At least Crowley can attest that there is, indeed, a God. And He's kind of a dick. ]

That, and more like a book that chronicles teachings of the divines. I much prefer the condensed versions in the Chant of Light to the endless volumes detailing when the divines took a shit and which hand they wiped with.

[He sighs a bit.]

At least the books here are more engaging. Do you have one of these Bibles? I would like to read it for myself.

Yep. That sounds like the Bible.

[Crowley pulls a face.]

Someone, no. But maybe someone else on the Fleet does? It' important to those who follow it.

[Adachi will sigh in relief when he sees Crowley. Someone he knows, and actually doesn't mind conversing with.]

Hey there Crowley-san! Gotta admit, I didn't think I'd see you here.

[Crowley gives a lazy wave, and an even lazier grin. ]

I finally decided to step out into the wide open again. You're all very lucky.

Where'd you go exactly?

The moon with the alcohol on it, mostly. It's my scene.

So you've been there the whole time? [Adachi is a little bit miffed by this information.] You could have gotten that drink I owed you a lot sooner then, instead of waiting until I randomly bumped into you.

[Ah well, guess it doesn't matter too much. Adachi had managed to find his way around on his own easily enough.]

(ooc: I'm assuming that their bumping into each other on Accendo would have happened before this. Sorry if this makes things confusing?)

[Adachi gives a slightly exasperated sigh. Crowley-san sure was an odd one. Normally, Adachi felt pretty confident in his ability to read people, but this guy was very hard to get a beat on.]

[Adachi clears his throat before continuing.] So, uh, what do you think of the party so far?

[Crowley did it on purpose, of course. Part of knowing what everyone deeply and desperately wanted in their heart of hearts made him exceptionally good at people. More to the point, knowing how to read and mislead them. ]

It could use some more alcohol.
