Maybe the rod needs to be angled lower so that the duck can drift into the hook.

You do realise you can pick up the other rod sitting here? Since you're an expert.

[Despite that, he does angle his own rod differently, watching for a blue duck that's coming slowly closer.]

[ He adjusts his sleeves, but makes no move to pick up the rod. ]

I would hate to disrupt genius at work.

Now you're just taunting me.

[Erik simply raises his eyebrows, the answer not needing to be voiced. He turns his attention back to the blue duck, now within striking distance. Giving it a critical glance, he shifts one arm out to brace the rod against, and dips the hook closer. The current pushes the duck's loop into the hook, and Erik finally pulls it out of the water. He doesn't even bother hiding his satisfaction.]

[ Charles claps. ]

Well done.

[exothermia]

[He sighs, unhooking the duck and throwing it into the slot. A number of credits spill out.]

Who, me? I don't recall saying I'd try.

I suppose you're waiting for trivia night instead.

[axiomed]

That would be my first choice.

[exothermia]

It doesn't seem quite the Atroma's style for this... thing. [Event. Party. He won't call it either, because who knows what it's really for? With a shrug, he flicks the fishing line back out and scans the ducks for a likely hit.] Not enough flashing lights or mallets.

No, though I can imagine then twisting the rules.

[ He shrugs. Little bothers him these days. ]

For what, trivia?

We've seen different kinds of trivia, Erik.

[exothermia]

Yes. [He angles the rod down, slowly hooking another duck.] We know that's not how they choose to play it, though.

I try not to give them ideas.

Likewise. [There's little call to talk about those old games now, besides. Erik can't remember the last time he even discussed one. He plucks the toy out of the water, and tosses it to Charles.]

Did you see the food in here?

Hm? All junk food from the looks of things. The kind my students would like to eat day and day out. Why?

It's real food, even if it's junk. [He's going back in for another duck.]

[axiomed]

I suppose I can't discount that.

[ He's not particularly motivated though. Food is food and Charles no longer cares all that much for what he eats. ]

It's noteworthy. [In terms of what the norm is. For Erik's part, he doesn't care much either. He's eaten the proteins almost exclusively since coming back.]

Even if it is all rubbish.

I can't deny that. Anniversaries must be quite the event here.
