So...I've been wondering this for awhile- but is it normal for worlds not to have monsters? Because I've noticed a pretty big lack of them everywhere we go.

I doubt it. They seem more interested in their own affairs than anything else.

Ranged weapons. Warriors, we wield sword, maces, things like that. It is how we are trained.

Really? And that's the same for all warriors and rogues?

Some rogues fight with daggers, but for the most part, yes.

I suppose it is in a way. [Also Varric can only equip Bianca, which means all bows belong to Sebastian. Makes life easier.]

What do mages use for weapons? Surely not just their magic with that whole magic being a demon magnet problem.

They have a staff, normally. It helps focus their magic?

So yes. They use for the large part just their magic. Sometimes they have a blade on the staff if something gets too close?

So what you gonna do? Learn how to use guns even if you're not a rogue, or just hope you find a melee weapon lying around?

I have no desire to learn how to use guns. I am a weapon in of myself, it will do until I can find a sword or something.

I am sure it would work on machinery, also. Even those contraptions have eternal systems they need to keep running.
