Hey, we'll probably be leaving in a few days. So is there anything else you guys want from these moons? I can keep an eye out for it.

I mean, unless it's meat. I'm sick of grabbing that stuff, so you're on your own there.

[Oh look, maybe he's actually going to be social for once. From the background, it looks like he's hanging out in his ship's quarters. Near him, there looks like there's a tree coming out of the hull. Ah, life with a fairy nature. Also, his hair is short]

So...I've been wondering this for awhile- but is it normal for worlds not to have monsters? Because I've noticed a pretty big lack of them everywhere we go.

Well, um... those are certainly "monsters," but I can't really say I've had too much experience with them.

["Normal stuff," huh? Where the hell did this guy come from that dragons and chimeras or whatever would be considered normal?]

Not really, no. [Adachi chuckled.] Dragons and chimeras are not things I've ever had to worry about.

Sorry for the misunderstanding. I'm still getting used to the fact that everyone here has apparently come from a lot of different times and places. [Adachi paused briefly before asking the question that was actually interesting him.] Are monsters really that normal for you?

It's fine. It's a big thing to get used to.

[Honestly it's still weird to him sometimes]

But yeah. You wouldn't see them everyday, but monsters are a normal risk when you traveled.

Really? Sounds like a dangerous place to grow-up. This place must seem pretty boring by comparison.

[He shrugs.]

It wasn't that bad. I'm from a large city that was protected by walls and knights. Monsters getting past that were pretty rare, so we only really had to worry if you traveled outside the city.

[Honestly, the humans within the walls were more dangerous than the monsters outside. But he won't mention that]

But yeah. The mercenary jobs are pretty bland out here compared to dragon slaying - I'll give you that.

You say "dragon slaying" like it's no big thing. [Adachi chuckled awkwardly, as he rubbed the back of his neck.] You must be quite the dangerous guy... uh... mister...

[Adachi realizes he hasn't actually been introduced to this guy yet. He had seen him at Dorian's party, but he hadn't conversed with him at all.]

[He picks up on that social cue to tell his name]

Kaneis. [Though sure not clearing up the dangerous thing] Well I fight things for a living, so I'd hope I would be.

Though, it's not like I'm a career dragonslayer. I've only done it a couple times with a group.

Nice to meet you Kan- Kaneis? [Adachi was struggling a little to pronounce Kaneis' name.] Ah heh, that's a rather unique name.

You fight things for a living? Like... a hunter? You hunt monsters?

[He makes a ha] Nah, not a hunter- I'm shit at skinning. I'm a mercenary. People hire us out if they have a problem. Sometimes that means a monster problem.

Don't worry about it, Tohru. [...Yeah. he has no idea how japanese names work] Manners aren't exactly my forte either.

[He makes a "ha" sound] Sure do. What kind of stories do you wanna hear?

[Adachi grimaces slightly at the sound of his first name.]

Well, if you feel up for grabbing a drink some time, I wouldn't mind hearing a bit about your "dragon slaying."

Heh, sure. Maybe once we're traveling again. Gotta save something for the even more boring downtimes.

Ah, I was wondering about that. Since I showed up here, we haven't really budged at all. I was beginning to think we were just going to stay put.

[Not that he would complain about that. What with a moon full of alcohol nearby.]

Nah, we'll move soon. When we find a planet, we usually stay a few weeks before moving on.

Sort of. I've been here for around three weeks now.

Who decides where we go? I mean, I haven't heard anything about coordinates or even a vague direction in which we're supposed to be headed.

That'd be the Atroma that decides. You know, the guys that brought you here? Who knows what they're thinking up.

[There was that name again. The way this guy used it too... so it doesn't necessary refer to just one individual. Ugh... it was frustrating Adachi how difficult it was to sort the mystery of its identity.]

So they just kind of guide us along, and we follow? Do we even really have a choice? I mean, what's to stop us from just staying here?

Who knows, maybe they wouldn't stop you.

Ah heh, good point. It still seems kinda dangerous to just blindly follow along though. I mean, how do we know for sure if each planet we visit is going to be hospitable?

[Adachi did have to concede that, as annoying some of the dumbasses in this fleet were, it was better than stranding oneself on some random planet. No, his best chance at accomplishing his goal was to stay with the fleet.]

What can I say? I'm a mercenary, not a motivational speaker.
