[welcome to how words work with Tempest, she'll take most things literally]
A - veterinarian? I'm afraid I do not know what that is.

[She smiles a bit while shrugging.]
A doctor but for animals. Since animals aren't so different from people when it gets down to basics, it isn't too hard to adapt for me. Just takes time like anythin' else.

[she says it with her own smile, amused at her own expense. She knows how she is, may as well put it out there]
Oh - I did not know doctors could specialize in that. Though - mm, you will be able to adapt just fine, I think. Not that it is necessary very often, here.

[And Maggie can be kind of abrasive at her worst. At least she's eased up slowly from 'survival mode' and is starting to get used to being on the SS Golden little by little.]
They do. Someone has to make sure animals live just as long as people. If taken care of right they live even longer, most of the time. I guess it's a good thing to put somethin' like that to use here whether or not people get injured often. It's nice to have options.

[over, Tempest. They fly over your head. Though Maggie doesn't have to worry; Tempest is abrasive at times, even at her best. She's in good company]
I think, where I am from, the regular physicians are the ones who take care of the animals when they are ill - or the healers, if it is a smaller village. And it is - I can heal, but I am not a fully trainer healer, so a proper doctor is always preferable to have around.

[She doesn't even laugh, feeling a bit of empathy for the girl. She was probably so out of place with a lot of things in the fleet that Maggie already found commonplace.]
Hm. I take it you lived in one of those smaller villages? I don't know what your training was like but if you have questions maybe I can help.

[she's incredibly out of place, even if she's embraced more modern clothes. But only because hoodies, to her, are a fascinating and amazing clothing]
I did, mm. And it was mostly - along the lines of physicians? Just with magic mixed in with it. [she smiles a bit] I will certainly turn any questions I have to you.

[Someone has never seen magic before.... and that someone is her.]
no subject
Would you like me to show you?

[She's a bit apprehensive what this 'magic' would entail. It sounds interesting.]

[it's probably not surprising that a woman like Tempest keeps sharp things on her person; she draws a knife from her boot and uses it to slice her palm - not too deeply, but enough to draw blood.
She holds that hand out so Maggie can see, next. The language she speaks isn't anything from Earth, but it's lilting and sing-song, and as she recites the spell she lays her hand over the wound, concentrating.
And when she moves it, after a faint, light glow, the wound she made is gone]
no subject
Wow.
[She stares, before reaching out to examine her hand which is now devoid of a cut or mark to even show there had even been one in the first place.]
no subject
Ta-da?

[For real - she makes her medical skills look like child's play.]

[she knows more than she's letting on, but even given the lab augment, she'd be angry about it. She hasn't wanted that sort of job since she was a child - the one she has now suits her much better]
