[Korra had decided to surprise Sokka with a visit from Naga and herself, hoping that might cheer up his obvious skepticism that was leading him to bury himself in paperwork. She hadn't seen the game room but she had gone for a run or two with Naga on the planet surface. When Korra eventually finds Sokka staring diligently at his work, she looks down at Naga, using one hand to signal that they should be quiet. Carefully, she tiptoes behind him, Naga moving equally quietly and haunched low to the ground. They were the picture of stealth.]

Hey, Sokka!

[Commence jumping in 3... 2...]

[Sokka has been absolutely engrossed in his paperwork, not paying attention to anything around him. As such, when Korra appears behind him and speaks, he leaps about three foot in the air, letting out a not-very-warrioresque-at-all-screech.

He spins around wide eyed, before...]

Oh. It's you.

[He takes a deep breath, trying to regain some pride. ]

Why do you feel the need to do these things? I swear it's like you're two Tophs, all in one.

[lightbends]

Who else would it be?

[Sorry Sokka, still laughing at you.]

Two? You should see her as a cranky old lady - she's not nearly as fun.

[Pulling a face just thinking about it.... :|]

[Sokks gives a soft scoff, sweeping some imaginary lint off his shirt. ]

Really? Does she at least still make spiteful, sarcastic comments? She loves that.

Yup. I kept trying to ask her to tell me stories about you guys and one of the ones I wanted to know was about Aang learning to Earthbend and she summarized it as Aang "got all whiny" and you fell in a hole. And then she hit me with mud and kicked my butt a lot.

[Seriously rood.]

So, I'd say she hasn't changed much from how you knew her.

[Long pause. ]

...You know, I think that just about covers the Earthbending story anyway. I mean, she got all the key factors in, anyway.

But that sounds like Toph. Nice to know she's still...her.

[lightbends]

If anything I think age just made her more sarcastic. I don't know, though since I didn't get to see her when she was here.

[Huff.]

That's proooobably for the best. She'd only find whole new ways to mess with your head if she was here.

[It's said fondly, though. He loves you, bestie, you precious tiny psychopath. ]

Why - what else would she do?

[Sokka what has the tiny child done to earn such a reputation?]

Okay so. As an old lady, does she do this thing where she compliments how you look, or how good something you've done looks? And for a second you're just "oh wow thanks, Toph!"

...And then you realise.

And she laughs.

Oh. You mean because she's blind?

[Excuse her she just almost laughed too. That was definitely a snort of hidden laughter.]

No, I don't think so. At least it hasn't happened to me. It'll probably happen with my friend Bolin eventually, though. He's kind of dating her granddaughter. And he's one of Toph's biggest fans.

[She smiles fondly, just thinking of Bolin.]

Come to think of it, if you met him he'd probably lose his cool with you too. Bolin's... well, he's kind of funny like that.

[He's a dork, Sokka. A complete dork.]

Yep. Because she's blind. It's like...her favourite joke.

...Yeah he'd be a prime target for her in all honesty.

Great. Well at least Opal would probably make it less embarrassing for him.

[Just shaking her head...]

Yeah, of course! Honestly - you guys are all a pretty big deal in the future.

[He knows he shouldn't ask too much about his future- in all honesty, he doesn't want to know. Knowing it now won't change anything, it'll just give him more things to potentially worry over. But hey, everyone likes to be considered a hero. ]

Yeah? It's pretty neat. Nice to know we're appreciated for what we did. Not that we did it for the appreciation. Just nice to get a thanks.
