At the risk for earning a reputation as a party planner, I have a thing for everyone to attend again. Don't worry, lots of other people are helping pull it together. It's going to be on New Year's Eve, but the real event is the countdown to Winn's birthday which is also on the first. It's going to be in a club we rented out for this in the red shift district. Starts around seven-ish. Ends when you pass out?

It's kind of a surprise maybe? At least the part where it's for his birthday. And if you don't know Winn but you still want to come that's fine too. You can trade a gift for Winn for a free drink at the bar. Otherwise, bring some money. Cake's on us though.

[Birthday/New Year's Party]
[The space is well decorated and so glittered you can probably tell Wrath was part of the team putting this together. Lots of Winn's friends came out to help whether it was getting decorations up, managing food, music, or chipping in to buy out the space and a drink for anyone bringing a gift. Not to mention drinks for the birthday boy all night.

There's a table for presents and another one with a spread of openly available food though the bar has appetizers you can buy too. There's a big cake at one end because of course there is and some punch that didn't start the night spiked at least. There's space for dancing and a karaoke machine set up on a small raised platform for those who want to try their hand at entertainment.

The night really kicks off when Winn walks in and instead of a balloon drop there's a fluffy blue stuffed bear drop. Feel free to take one of those home. There are a lot.

When midnight comes closer some people will file out to one of the observation areas to get a good view of the nebula for the big countdown. Bring your own person to kiss!

[Happy birthday can come in a few minutes, she has to get the teasing out of the way first.]

[ oh my god opal, congratulations, you're the first person who - for a sec - managed to wipe the goofy grin off his face. what does she mean paren-oh. okay. goofy grin restored.

he shakes his head. ]

You don't drink and name, learned that one the hard way.

Learned it the hard way, huh? I want to hear this story.

[She's also holding her hands behind her back, as though she's holding something and trying to hide it.]

[ you know he should notice and not be surprised anymore - kitty's right, it's like he doesn't know how birthdays work! - but no sarcasm, just having his friends show up feels like more than gift enough. ]

Don't drink and story, learned that one too.

[robitussin]

I'll get it out of you someday, mark my words.

[She pulls a wrapped package out from behind her back, holding it out to him.]

Anyways, here.

We shall see.

[ she can get whatever she wants out of him, and he knows it. but it's too much fun to play their little game.

oh my god it's a present. everything about his face softens - she could have a tissue in there and he'll still be moved. ]

-- thank you. [ he shouldn't sound surprised, he really shouldn't - kitty showed him the gift table, other people have given him their presents in person too. and yet every single time -- he is. he's not used to being thought of by so many people okay.

he takes it, and he hopes you appreciate his efforts here opal because it's taking a lot out of him not to just pull you into a hug!!!! instead, he focuses on the package and the unwrapping. ]

[She isn't expecting him to look quite so touched, but that's one thing she's not going to tease him about.

When he opens it, he'll find a fancy pancake maker.]

I know there's not actually, like, actually edible food, but I figured there's probably enough in the hotel if you wanted to stock up on pancake supplies?

[winn]

[ oh no it's not a tissue it's actually a really wonderful and thoughtful gift and he can't believe this is his life right now but if he's dreaming seriously don't wake him up now! that'd be a total dick move! this'll make pancake mornings on the tourist so much easier. it's a favorite tradition, when they have supplies. ]

This is awesome! Thank you -- this'll be put to great use. [ he's giving her a great big hug in his mind!!! ] You should come by for our next Tourist pancake day.

Oh, wow, I didn't know you have pancake days. Guess I lucked out.

Yeah, Jim sometimes makes them.

[ he calls them pancake days. someone's a little desperate for happy family times. ]

That's the guy who threw the Christmas party, right?

[winn]

Yup, we're the party ship.

[robitussin]

I mean, Chloe's on your ship too, right? Party ship seems like a fairly good description.

[winn]

Not that kind.

[ oh god chloe are you corrupting his little sisters now! ]

[robitussin]

[holding her hands up with a laugh]

Whoa there, didn't mean to freak you out.

[winn]

We just eat a lot cuz we're all pigs, ok.

[ it's not the munchies, no matter how much like it it may look, especially when he and kara have snack food around. ]

[robitussin]

I'm not going to judge either way, man.

[but okay, she'll let it rest.]

So. Pretty nice party, huh?

[winn]

[ look, they're on a spaceship, the way he sees it they're high enough and he's definitely paranoid enough, it's not the time for experimenting. not for him. ]

It's freaking awesome - did they rope you into helping with this?

[robitussin]

No, but that's probably for the best. I'm not really the party planning type.

[winn]

How 'bout party dancing?

[robitussin]

[A heavy sigh (entirely for show, she really doesn't mind all that much).]

I guess I can't turn down your birthday request.

[winn]

And I wasted it on dancing? [ slapping his forehead ] Well, better make the most of it -

[ he's gonna go put down her present on the gift table and offer her his hand. ]

[robitussin]

Yes, unfortunately there's a very strict rule about it only happening once. I have to turn down everything else you might ask on principle.

[She smirks, though, and reaches forward to take his hand.]

You know, even a genie gives out 3 wishes.

[ he's gonna spin her onto the dance floor :D ]

Last time I checked, this wasn't Aladdin.

[She lets herself be spun, swaying softly to the music.]
