"Maybe you still will. Here or at home." She doesn't know how things shake out, but then neither does he, so no harm, right? "Is Howard a good boss?"

"I owe him a great deal."

... Wait, that doesn't answer the question.

He sighs.

"He can be a difficult master of the house. I've had to deal with an amazing rainbow of challenges under Mr. Stark's management. But... I suppose in that way, there's never a dull moment."

She nods, not really knowing the situation but getting the feeling that it wasn't the easiest job.

"You know, surprisingly, you'll find some dull moments in space. They can be nice for awhile though. You could probably use a break though it looks like you're not giving yourself one." She nods to the waffles. "Not that I'm complaining."

Jarvis huffs, though apparently in good nature.

"I'm terrible at taking breaks, Miss Pryde. I think you'll find me climbing the walls if I don't have a task to occupy my time."

"I know the feeling." It might be part of why she's thrown herself into her relationships when captured. Oh, she always finds other things too. Working on learning languages and brushing up on various areas of science or getting odd jobs, but nothing is really the same as when she was part of something bigger as an X-Man. It was a non-stop fight and that was impossible and wearing and they all desperately needed more downtime and lots of therapy but she got this life and it's something.

"Though installing a climbing wall isn't a bad idea." Not that it was really an idea.

"... That sounds excellent, actually."

Don't give him ideas, Kitty, oh my lord.

"I do rather enjoy mountain climbing."

"I think it could be fun, but I admit I usually cheat at it."

"Cheat? I can't imagine an easy way to cheat at mountain climbing."

Jarvis come on, you've met a few superheroes already. :^|

"Just walk on the air molecules instead of climbing. Smoother ride." You know, as one does. "I mean, you could cut through too, but it's hard to hold intangibility that long."

"... I don't believe I follow."

Kitty, why you gotta troll him, he's an innocent and oblivious creature.

She puts her fork down (reluctantly) and stands up and then takes a few additional steps up until he can see that she's standing on nothing.

"Like so."

He will do his best not to point, pointing's rude.

"I don't suppose that's magic."

[passingthrough]

"Nope. Genetic mutation." She steps back down to the floor. "I call it phasing. I can pass the molecules of my body around other molecules or interact with air molecules individually."

... He hunkers down to look at the air between her feet and the floor, pardon.

"Sounds... complicated and decidedly scientific. I'm familiar with the concept, at least."

"The magic-looking science, that is."

She looks a little amused by the scrutiny. "If you like that you should see me walk through solid objects." Which she does not demonstrate at this time. There are waffles to work on. "So, what kinds of things have you seen?"

"Not a lot outside of the laws of nature," he says with a little shrug. "I have seen a man who mastered the art of mind control. It was really quite frightening. I am still unsure if it was merely a technique or a power, however."

"Most of the telepaths I know are more about reading minds than controlling them." Though they can do both. And if they controlled hers would she be aware of it? But she'd like to think better of those she's been close to.

Wiiince.

"A bit frightening, isn't it? The idea of people looking into your head."

[passingthrough]

"Mmm, depends on the telepath. This might sound strange, but it can be nice actually." Intimate in a way. Or nice just knowing they'll understand you even if you can't always explain yourself. "The thought of being mind controlled is a full stop for me though."

[edwinjarvis]

"It was absolutely awful," he says, shaking his head. "I had watched a man lose his life for it. I should hope to never see such a thing again. He was exceptionally brave, though, enduring as he had."

It really was terrible. Poor Chief Dooley.

"... But if what you say is true, I'm glad there's some good to come from such abilities. Regardless of what someone is capable of, I suppose it only matters what sort of person they are. How they use their gifts."

"True of everyone even if their gives are a little less improbable sounding. We're no different." She's certainly seen mutants commit unspeakable horrors and mutants who sacrifice their lives trying to stop those same horrors.

"I'm sorry about what you saw." And even if she's seen a lot of death and caused a fair portion of it herself, she means this. She'd rather others go unmarred.

He shakes his head, meaning to ease her sympathies.

"It's alright, Miss Pryde. I'm the one who is still in one piece, so I can hardly complain. It is important to carry on and remember those who cannot, so that we may do our best everyday for them."

He didn't know Dooley very well, but it applies across the board; many have died that could have just as easily been him, especially after the war, where so many had lost their lives. He's truly blessed and he tries not to forget it.

"That's a good way of looking at it." Sometimes it's all that gets her through the guilt of surviving. Some days it still doesn't feel like enough and others it barely comes to mind at all. "I let waffles take a dark turn."

"... Yes... Waffles did become rather morbid."

He looks at the waffles on the table, as if judging them.

"... Would you like some of the morbid waffles? Perhaps over talk of your favorite reading materials?"

Much less macabre.

"I should probably leave some of the morbid waffles for the others. I already had a lot. But are you sure you're ready for my favorite reading materials? I'm a huge nerd."
