Not at the moment? Making my rounds right now if you want tea.

[ He hesitates before nodding. ]

Yes, that would be nice.

[reconstitution]

Give me ten minutes.

[ He shuts off the feed and finishes his walk around before heading into the kitchen. True to his word, Winter shows up brandishing two mugs of hot tea. He sets them down on the nearest flat surface. ]

The ship seems so empty, now.

[ Not that he minds too much about that, though he will miss Padme quite a bit. ]

[ He takes it gratefully. ]

Maybe that's just what we need. Some peace and quiet for a while.

I agree. It was a bit crowded for a while.

[ Six is an easily-manageable number. ]

[ He sips his tea, hoping not to go too deeply into it. ]

And you?

Mm. The same, really.

[ He won't press if Charles doesn't want to talk about it. ]

[axiomed]

[ His lips twitch, just barely. ]

How's your arm?

[reconstitution]

[ As if he's just remembered it's there, the fingers of his left hand twitch before he raises the arm. ]

I keep forgetting it's working again. [ Six months is a long time not to have it, it became almost second nature. ]

[axiomed]

We should have worked harder to get it sooner for you.

[reconstitution]

It's fixed, now. That's what matters. I understand that there were a lot of setbacks, I'm not mad about it.

[axiomed]

No, but I imagine it's frustrating.

[ He pats his legs. Charles has an idea of how it might feel. ]

Especially when it's something you take for granted.

[reconstitution]

It was frustrating not being able to do what I need to.

[ Like making sure his crew isn't attacked, and if they are, being able to defend them. ]

Feels like I failed a lot of people.

[axiomed]

[ Charles frowns. ]

Feels like and having it actually happen are different though.

[reconstitution]

[ He rubs at the side of his head. ]

I know, I know. It was probably for the best, anyway.

But now we can move forward.

[axiomed]

And where do you want to move forward to?

[reconstitution]

Just forward. Feels like we've had a lot of setbacks.

[axiomed]

. . . I can understand that.

[ Certainly his life is momentum. If he keeps moving forward, he doesn't have to dwell or think too hard. Being away from the school gives him too much time to focus on his own anxieties. ]

But thinking about where never hurts either.

[reconstitution]

I don't know if I want to think that far ahead. Not here. I'm okay with small steps.

[ If he gets too ambitious, there could be another glitch and he'd have to work from the bottom again.. ]

[axiomed]

Do you let yourself believe in those small steps though?

[reconstitution]

I try to. [ Maybe not as forcefully as he should believe in them, but they're still some sort of progress at least. ]
