[The broadcast goes out on 3/10, and Dorian smirks a bit into the feed.]

I believe I've secured lodging for myself, with room enough for several others. If you need a place to stay, do let me know. It's a quaint little villa a bit outside of town. ...please don't mind the suspicious glances, I assure you, I've done nothing entirely against the guidelines that were set.

Action:

[Dorian has secured a villa, but the residents of Mor don't seem too keen on having an evil mage for a neighbor. As the month goes on, more and more villagers will show up to stand at the gates of the villa and threaten to come in after the "evil wizard".

Maybe he shouldn't have gone so overboard with the whole "contacting the spirits of the dead" thing.]

[He looks at it, for a moment, deliberating. Eventually, though, he reaches it to take a swig. ]

[Glasses, Fenris. They exist. After a beat, he goes to find one for himself, then places it on the counter waiting expectantly for the elf to share. At least one of them can have manners.]

Your friend Dorian is resourceful, I will give him that.

[Glasses are for SNOBS. He does, however, hand the bottle over.]

It's a trait he's learned through necessity.

It is not my tale to tell. We come from the same country, though, he and I. If you know me, that might give you some idea of the world he grew up in.

To be fair, the most I know is your perspective on the state of things, and usually in regards to magic. [A beat] And various other regrettable practices.

Well, Dorian comes from one of the upper class families, to put it simply. He...disagrees with the regrettable practises. That has not made him especially popular. He left.

[There is so much more to that, but he won't tell Dorian's story for him. He knows it was given him in trust, and he won't break that.]

[There is always more to every story, and he accepts the explanation for what it is, with a small nod. He also ends up agreeing that it is good wine indeed as he sips at his own glass in thought]

I can't express much surprise. People like that never like to be told they're wrong. It's a good way to become unwelcome in a hurry.

Especially in a place like Tevinter. Power is important, you have to play your part and play it correctly, to claw your way to the top.

[Bitterly:] For the nobility, anyway.

There's a little bit of that in life for everyone but...yes. [Pause] Was that where you were from?

It was, not the nobility obviously. I felt no loss when I left that place behind.

Did you leave before you arrived in Exsilium, or was that the cause?

[wolfuncaged]

No, I left Tevinter long before the Initative took me. I'd been away for thirteen years, or so. I was living in the Free Marches.

[lord_wizard]

I presume the name is indicative.

[wolfuncaged]

Purely coincidental. It just happened to be the place where I ran into Hawke. Had I not, I would have likely travelled further south.

[And right into a Ferleden trying to recover from the last Blight. Not a pleasant idea.]

I'm...not sure I know much about Hawke, beyond his existence as your associate.

[Or much else, for that matter, of Fenris' history. Details had never been a factor in their old friendship, which is something he regrets at this particular instance.]

He...is something of an enigma to himself. I have learned that there can be many different versions of him. Even the one aboard the Fleet right now is not the Hawke I know back home.

[He arches a brow] Do you mean he's from a different time, or a different person entirely?

[wolfuncaged]

A different person...almost entirely. There are a lot of things that remain constant, but others that change. In Exsilium, he was a woman. I do not understand how it works, it's...strange. It seems the rest of us remain largely unchanged.

How curious. I suppose that's what you meant when you alluded to different versions of your world. [He's not sure if the thought is troubling or intriguing]

In any event, what caused you to travel with him?

Yes. It is...rather complicated.
