[Kitty's morning on the Tourist did not go as planned. It's another hour or so before she makes this announcement. She doesn't even know what happened to the minutes in between. But she's all business when she looks into the communicator. No hiding behind text.]

Winn Schott is in a coma. [Blunt. Direct. Maybe she should have called a few people individually first like Kara, but she wasn't going to make it through this if she did that.] He always has projects going, so they're going to be late. If something is important let me know and I'll see if it's something I can work on in his place.

I already fed his slug today, but someone on the Tourist should take care of that until lazy wakes up. [The mild insult to cover feelings is so classic Kitty, circa home it may not even fit with what people of the fleet know of her. That Kitty had walls around her walls, but those are gone now.]

He's always checking on ship systems on the Twin Roses since we managed to merge and still not get an engineer out of the deal, so if anyone else can help us out with that in the meantime let me know. I'll also be working on the new dance studio later today if anyone wants to help. [Because this mission is almost complete and she needs another one so she can hold it together. Can't fall apart if she's sanding down floors.]

My room. [Looking to be more private than usual. Already catching various degrees of success. I'll be there in ten. Does wine go with ice cream?

Wine can go with it. [ She's already blue, it's not going to do her control any damage. ] I'll be there. Get comfortable.

Will do. [Does sitting on the bed with her back against the corner of the room and her knees tucked up against her look comfortable? It could be worse. The door is closed, but not locked. If there's a knock she'll tell her to come in. Meanwhile she'll have a couple of bottles of wine out. She has the white in her hand for the occasional drink out of the bottle. Who needs glasses?]

[ It doesn't take too long for Raven to get there, Cisco's ice cream with her, and she knocks on the door before being invited in. It's easy enough to move over and take a spot on the bed, holding out the tub and leaning back with her legs stretched out, making herself comfortable. ] I don't think I've ever spent time with a girl like this before.

[Accepting that tub. She hands Raven a spoon too though.] You mean like we're straight out of a rom com where a sad girl is consoling herself over a guy with ice cream? Or just any one-on-one female bonding?

I was too busy travelling the world trying to stop scientists murdering mutants. [ She shrugs a shoulder, taking the spoon. ] The only 'gal-pal' I had was Emma Frost and she wasn't the movie type.

How were the scientists... Emma Frost? [She got sidetracked.] How did that happen?

We were the originals with Erik. [ Raven leans back, tilting her head as she counts. ] Azazel, Emma, Riptide, Angel, me and Erik.

Huh. She was on the human high council back home. Can't say I know an Azazel or Riptide. Was Angel a pretty boy with big fluffy white wings? [The age shouldn't work out, but it wouldn't be the first time something was weird.]

I think she went wherever she could see the most benefit for herself. It was Shaw first then Erik. [ Then nothing. The question makes her snort into her glass, though. ] No, she was a stripper with angel wings.

Shaw... I do not like him. At least in my world.

She, huh? Well, I guess I can't blame two people coming up with the same nickname when they both had wings.

It wasn't her codename. Just... Her name. It's what they called her and she reclaimed it. [ She shakes her head, leaning back. ] I chose 'Mystique' because it sounded cool and then we made up Charles and Erik's for fun.

Oh. Our Angel was named Warren. Warren Worthington the third. You can hear the rich. Not that it mattered anymore.

I came up with Shadowcat when I was fourteen. I had a string of codenames that didn't stick. Sprite. Not like the soda. I thought it was a better name for ghost. And Ariel.

I suppose it doesn't matter most of the time. [ At least when people find out you're a mutant... Unless you're Charles Xavier.

Breathing out, Raven shrugs a shoulder, taking another long drink. ] Me and Charles didn't have names until we were fighting Shaw. It was just me and him, then we found Erik, then they went and found the rest.

It never mattered much for me. I've met people who have secret identities, but that isn't a thing in my world. It used to be maybe. I guess that's why it was a tradition.

What's Charles' name? [He never had one in her world.]

The world knew me as Mystique. I was a hero. [ She says the word with a touch of scorn, as if she still doesn't quite believe in it. ] But Charles... He was Professor X.

Oh, yeah, that sounds familiar with Charles. Someone must have mentioned it somewhere along the way.

Not a fan of the hero title?

Not really. He just wanted to teach, not do any of... Well, any of it, honestly.

I meant you.

Oh. [ She stops, pausing, trying to find the right words. ] Not when I don't deserve it.

Do you feel like you ever have? Deserved it.

[ Well, this is uncomfortable. ]

Didn't really come up at home, but in these places it gets thrown around a lot.

I didn't do anything. They saw a blue girl and needed someone to look up to.

[ She turns to look at Kitty and sighs. ]

It's not all it's cracked up to be.

It's not. I'm pretty secure in the knowledge I shouldn't be anyone's role model and that seems to come with the hero gig.
