can a fairy fly underwater??

Who: A well-balanced party- AKA Kirito, Asuna, Nightingale, Opal, Jayden, and Nami
Broadcast: N/A
Action: One of the underwater ruins
When: During this month!

[At some point after getting Nightingale to stop screaming, a proper party is assembled! They've got everything: tanks, mages, DPS, puzzle-solvers! This whole dungeon crawl should be a cinch, right? It's not like any of them have a tendency to attract bad luck or sudden disaster.

H e h. Good luck, nerds.]

Okay, I have no idea what MP cost is. This is two thirds of a weather control system so its effects are variable but maintainable and some of it will be useless under water-- more specifically I'd imagine the parts that summon more water in any form-- and its range is sky high. Or line of sight, I guess. I need to be able to see what I'm doing.

Oh, and I can hit people with it. I learned how to use a staff before I ever upgraded to weather science, so in a pinch I will break someone's face, I'm sure.

[WE'RE RPGS OK]

... Yeah, weather control is probably not going to be much good underwater. Especially since we're apparently not supposed to use lightning?

[she doesn't get it but ok]

Staff is probably going to be the most useful part down here.

Water conducts lightning. In a small enough space, whoever uses it will fry us all. And we'll see-- most things are useless without the requisite amount of air to play with, but there are a few choices still available to me. My preference is not to have to physically poke a monster in the face.

... That isn't how magic works. I'll stick with fire, then, I guess.

You might need to stay in the back, then... We seem to have everything covered, anyway.
namisan: (spot the rogue in this party)

That's how science works. If you have magic lightning, it could be a different story, but finding out you're wrong down here might be kind of lethal.

[Also, are you insinuating that she's not useful here, because--] Great idea! I'll be in the back if anyone needs me!

... Right.

[She knows she shouldn't say it. She knows it can't help. And yet.]

So you think I shouldn't use my lightning underwater, but you don't have any problem with me using fire underwater instead?
namisan: (hmm this requires great thought)

[personal profile] namisan 2017-03-09 05:59 am (UTC)(link)
That depends on the heat and volume of your fire. [Nami raises an eyebrow.] But you say that's not how magic works, so do you actually want a scientific explanation?

[personal profile] experiencepoints 2017-03-09 06:04 am (UTC)(link)
No. I know how science works. Mundane fire would be smothered, lacking the oxygen to continue its reaction underwater.

Magic fire just does damage to my enemies.
namisan: (excuse you)

[personal profile] namisan 2017-03-09 06:28 am (UTC)(link)
Then physics aren't involved. I mean, I assume you've had time to verify your magic works on the Fleet just the way it does elsewhere by now. [Shrug.] You answered your own question, anyway. If someone's nervous about you using lightning under water because of scientific reasons, they're not gonna have a problem with fire for the exact same reason.

...and if it's all magic, it's all moot, so. I don't care if you use lightning, in that case. If for some reason I get fried, I'll just come and haunt you.

If lightning magic fries anyone, it'll get me first, so don't worry.

[she's tired of ghosts :(]
namisan: (omg have you listened to urself)

[personal profile] namisan 2017-03-09 06:44 am (UTC)(link)
I wouldn't use my lightning down here because it's based in science. [She smiles wryly.] Buuut that's moot. I still don't have that section of my weapon anyway.

Well... I guess it's moot. I'll stick to fire down here. It's just a bit more expensive than my other spells, so I'll stick to melee range.
namisan: (you don't say)

[personal profile] namisan 2017-03-09 07:03 am (UTC)(link)
I'm currently hoping there's no need for melee range, but mysterious temples are probably not gonna indulge us in that regard.

Have you ever heard of a place like this that didn't have monsters out the ass?
namisan: (hrmnmnn)

[personal profile] namisan 2017-03-12 05:36 am (UTC)(link)
Nope. But one day maybe god will be nice to me. All evidence to the contrary.
experiencepoints: (Nipples don't work like that.)

[personal profile] experiencepoints 2017-03-12 05:38 am (UTC)(link)
Gods are never nice.
namisan: (snark fu)

[personal profile] namisan 2017-03-12 06:43 am (UTC)(link)
Nope. Only one I ever met tried to commit genocide.
experiencepoints: (Dude sucks dick for coke I seen him.)

[personal profile] experiencepoints 2017-03-12 06:44 am (UTC)(link)
Sounds right. We killed all the gods in my world for shit like that.
namisan: (that sounds fake but okay)

[personal profile] namisan 2017-03-14 07:12 am (UTC)(link)
How many gods did you have?
experiencepoints: (pic#7734247)

[personal profile] experiencepoints 2017-03-18 01:49 am (UTC)(link)
Well... At least one in each era before the tenth? So, at least nine. But they tended to be spaced apart by a thousand years or so.
namisan: (I don't speak little bitch)

[personal profile] namisan 2017-03-18 04:52 am (UTC)(link)
And not one of them was even vaguely nice? You'd think sometimes there'd be an outlier.
