[At some point after getting Nightingale to stop screaming, a proper party is assembled! They've got everything: tanks, mages, DPS, puzzle-solvers! This whole dungeon crawl should be a cinch, right? It's not like any of them have a tendency to attract bad luck or sudden disaster.

[Nightingale's looking around at the assembled group.]

This is actually a fairly balanced party we've got here... But with six, I'm worried the EXP gains won't be much.

[huaaaaagh]

Why worry so much about EXP when there's adventure to be had? We're plenty strong enough.

[Sometimes you just need to live a little.]

[For the first time since arriving on the fleet, Asuna actually looks excited. She's already looked over her gear and potion supply-- still in tact from her switch from game to reality-- and seems nearly ready to go, recently acquired rapier in her hand. As she glances around, she realizes she may need to lay a few things out in the open.]

For those who don't know, I'm Asuna, a mage and a swordswoman. I can do healing and buffs as well as offensive magic, but I can switch to my rapier easily. So I'll go wherever I can be most useful in whatever we come across.

You're good just about anywhere, huh?

[She sounds like she admires that, honestly.]

Let's start with ranged attacks, I think, until we know more about what we're fighting. Do you have multi-target spells?

[She raises a hand in greeting, nodding as she listens to that description.]

Opal. Uh, healer, I guess? Nightingale can probably handle strategy better than I can, so I'll let her tackle that, but. Nice to meet you.

[ So.... Nightingale talks like video game things are real life. Asuna's mentioned being here in her in-game avatar and how she can still pull up an in-game menu. Jayden is seriously curious just how many people here on the fleet are like this... But, at least she can keep up with the lingo by virtue of having played video games before, extensively! She even just watches Nightingale and Kirito discuss EXP and leveling up, taking it all in stride... Eventually though, it is her turn to introduce herself. ]

Name's Jayden. I'm a Striker Titan, which is high defense and counter-strikes. Pretty used to tanking. Don't mind keeping that up.

By the way. Puzzles and riddles? Not really my favorite. [ She shakes her head. ] If there are physical challenges, I'm your girl. Otherwise? Just tell me what to do and I'll do it.

Puzzles and strategy are my forte, so I don't mind. I'm glad to have someone like you here, though. Do you mind taking the front when we're going, then? If you've got high defense and counters, you'd be our best bet to take the first hit in any encounters.

[She's already analyzing her abilities on how to fit it into their party makeup.]

Ahhh... I'm with you there, not gonna lie. Puzzles aren't my strong spot. I'm glad we've got ourselves a tank, though- I was sort of worrying that I'd have to do it myself, and...

[He is so not specced for that. Even if he sometimes ends up in the role anyway, he knows it's not in anyone's best interests to do it for long.]

[The smile Asuna gives Jayden is a big one, obviously pleased to see her there.]

I'm glad you could make it! You're just what we needed, too. [She really is happy. It's kind of silly.] We'll keep you covered on the healing front with no problems!

I'm not awful at puzzles, either, so Nightingale and I can probably handle that.

[A small quirk of her lips.]

I've never heard of tanking before, but I'm pretty sure I can guess what it means. That's pretty cool.

[WELP. The vast majority of you seem to be talking in terms she doesn't really understand, but that's okay. You say certain key words to Nami and she's sold, and she already knows Kirito at least can fight.

Shouldn't be an issue, right? She turns up and listens to introductions and sticks a hand up at an opportune moment.]

I'm Nami! I'm here for the treasure!

[...that isn't very helpful but HONESTLY SHE HAS NO IDEA WHAT MOST OF YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT SO WHATEVER just point her at it and she'll help.

Nami, it's good to see you again. [And she means it. Asuna smiles at her as she approaches, holding a hand up in a wave.]

Right now, we're discussing what we can do in terms of fighting anything we might come across and how to handle puzzles we might need to solve. How are you with either of those thing?

[She snorts.]

So... we can count on you as loot-carrier? You're not gonna just run away with all the swag when things get hairy, are you?

[Nami, he likes you, and for the most part you're trustworthy, but... you're also a bit of a fiend.]

PUZZLES/BATTLES

[huaaaaagh]

[Dungeons are not dungeons without puzzles to solve or monsters to fight. So, you know, fight puzzles and solve monsters. (You solve monsters by hitting them with things until they stop being a problem. Obviously.)]

the tank finds a shield! will probably break something in the process tho

[ Jayden's managed pretty well without a physical shield so far, but she knows that having one would be a good idea. ... At the very least, it'll make Asuna feel better, and that also falls into the "good idea" category.

Luckily enough, the party eventually comes to a dead end of a room, with a line of stone statues at the very back: life-sized Dasioe, standing at attention, with spears and metal shields in hand. Perfect. Jayden walks right up to the one in the middle, starts yanking on the shield in an attempt to pull it down. It seriously doesn't want to seem to budge, though. ]

C'mon...! Damn thing...!

[ Unfortunately, once everyone's fully inside, the door slams closed behind them! And some of the tiles on the floor begin to glow! Because it's puzzle time!!

Jayden looks over, hands still on that stuck shield... she clicks her tongue. ]

That wasn't my fault.

[namisan]

You say that.

[But it's good-natured, okay, if a little preoccupied, because in Nami's estimation glowing tiles have never been a good thing. She'll just make sure she's nowhere near one for now, thank you.]

Think this is a don't step on the tiles or you'll die or a step on them in the right order or you'll die kind of thing?

[Loot that chest. Loot it good! Hope you're happy with the results, no takebacks and no re-rolls.]

[Once they've found the treasure room, Nightingale's going to wait for everyone else to get their treasure. But once it's her turn, she swats the chest open with her staff, and pulls out...

... It's just a fucking Pokeball. Straight-up a Pokeball. So it's probably weird that Nightingale suddenly looks like she might cry.]

... We- We need to get somewhere above water, right away.

[huaaaaagh]

[Well, it's been an... interesting... journey! But a dungeon run just isn't complete without treasure waiting for you at the end. Once they reach the final room, Kirito gives it a proper study for safety's sake - experience has taught him to be leery of traps - but once it seems safe enough, he lowers his sword and glances behind himself.]

[ Seeing everybody so far getting things they recognize, or things important to them, Jayden seriously has to wonder what they could possibly give her. She was never one to have much in the way of possessions since becoming a Guardian, so what exactly is this box capable of, huh?

Her turn to find out. She cracks open the lid, waits for the light to die down... ]

Oh! Finally! That was very uncomfortable. Underwater, and in a box...

[ ... ... ...

Jayden practically shoves the lid the rest of the way open, reaches in, and scoops out what looks like a softball-sized blue mechanical spike-ball. She holds it in her palms for a second, and then it seems to shake itself off before floating on its own in front of her. ]

... My Ghost!!

[ This is definitely the most surprised she has ever sounded in the entire time she's been in the fleet. Savor it. ]

[She's a bit nervous that whatever she finds will be something extremely sentimental, something she'll have to explain to the rest of the group. However, upon opening the chest, perhaps the most noticeable thing is the loud and angry meowing that can be heard throughout the room.

Within seconds, a cat is swimming out of the enclosed space... And almost right past Opal, who's too surprised for a few moments to stop it from trying to escape.]

Mozart?

[What a nerdy name!! Regardless, she's letting the lid of the chest drop immediately so she can reach out to grab the kitten. It really does not look pleased to be here in this watery abyss.]
