[The shock of that gives him just enough energy to sit up. Did she just come right through that machine? Is she a ghost? He has a hundred questions, but what he instead says is:]

It's good to see you again. And...yes, I'm grateful for the opportunity, but I somehow imagined modern spacecraft would have slightly more space.

[A pause. He re-considers what he just saw, still not entirely believing it.]

But if you can slip through objects, things would feel less cramped?

And to think I come all the way over here because there's more room than back on my ship. [The Twin Roses has a gym area she uses sometimes, but their cargo bay also has games and a garden and other storage. It's getting tight in there.]

Saw that part, did ya? [She wasn't really trying to hide it.]

It has it's moments, but it's less freeing than you'd think.

[If anything, he's only more curious after hearing that.]

In what way? If that's not too intrusive to ask?

There's still the vacuum of space all around us. [She doesn't think her powers would stand up to that, but she hasn't had to test it either.] Tends to be limiting.

...right. Of course we're stuck here most of the time.

But do I understand correctly that we sometimes land on planets?

We spend most of our time on planets. Well, planets or moons or space stations or a combination of those. We might be in space a couple of weeks or just a couple of days. Are you getting stir crazy already? Happens to me.

[morphitudinous]

Yeah. I usually enjoy reading and working on mechanical problems...but my friends were in the middle of teaching me about their athletic endeavors. Exercise has really helped my mind, and the bikes on the ships aren't the same.

At least having access to this place helps somewhat.

Moving between ships keeps some of the stir out of my crazy. The Iskaulit is good for that. I'm also usually on the Twin Roses and Tourist daily. Which ship were you on?

I'll keep that in mind.

I'm the engineer on the Red Fish. The people are generally all right, but the blood on the walls...is it like that everywhere?

Laura's ship. I have never visited her there, but that's concerning. Does it come off? [She's not sure if it's a feature of the ship or if they were all too lazy to clean after the raider attack. The Windrose was covered in blood for awhile too. She has heard some of the ships have oddities though. Just not the ones she tends to frequent.]

I've tried, and that's a negative. I'm not seeing critical rust damage, that's a good sign...it just makes sleep at night a little more difficult than usual.

So I'm guessing it's not normal.

I have not been on any other ship with bleeding walls, no. The Twin Roses is...rosy. [She's a little concerned for Laura being in that kind of environment. On one hand it feels like it fits, on the other hand, that's exactly why she'd rather not see her there.]

You can transfer though. Anywhere you want as long as there's room. ...What augment did you get?

Engineering. I practiced similar skills at home, so it hasn't been too difficult of an adjustment.

I don't dislike my crewmates, so I don't see a reason to leave yet---but that's good to know.

We are short an engineer. All vulnerable and unshielded if something attacks the ship. And we have a garden and lots of upgrades, and it can't be said enough, no bleeding walls.

[morphitudinous]

I'll consider it once I'm sure everyone's all right...but you'd think they'd balance the augments to prevent cases like that, wouldn't you?

I think they might specifically leave them off balance to see what we do and what trouble it causes.

Of course. Ratings are the numbers that rule our lives, or so it goes.

That's the working theory as stated by the bad guys. [Smirking lightly.]

There are always other guesses to make. You can probably think of three or four right now if you try.

Hmm...it's a nefarious experiment on the nature of living beings, we're pawns in an intergalactic dispute, or this is all a simulation?

Look at you go. My last place was all a simulation. So, it's definitely crossed my mind there. [And also that maybe she never left. She just got transferred to a new program.]
