Not so much-- well, I like it. But a place with no coastlines, that's nothing but water, wears thin after a while.

You need the contrast? The challenge maybe?

The goalpost. Cartography and navigation is all about using your skillset to journey to a whole new place. If it's all ocean, there's nowhere to go. Though if we had coating technology, I guess I could sail a ship to all the places underneath the water instead.

You don't have any submergable vehicles on a world with that much water?

I just said we have coating technology. Which by reports seems to be unique to us.

But yeah, other than that, we do. One of our allies uses a submarine, not a pirate ship. And we have a mini one attached to our own. I don't think they're common, but they're definitely not unheard of.

You said if you had coating technology, but I won't hold that against you. [He smiles.]

It is nice being up where you can breathe the air.

I meant if I had coating technology here. We've got it at home. But yeah, I much prefer being above the surface.

Yeah. Though I definitely don't mind exploring down here. It kind of reminds me of Fishman Island.

Underwater home of the fishmen and mermaids. You have to travel through there to get to the other half of the Grand Line, which is a journey most pirates want to make.

You mean the people with fish tails like in that musical cartoon? [He had an extremely eclectic human media diet.] They're real?

IIII wouldn't know about musical cartoons, but given people often think of them as mythical creatures in our world too, I get the idea. And yes. They're real. Some of them are really huge.

[He looks intrigued.] How huge?

[Grin.] More than fifty feet tall.

[He nods his head appreciatively.] I hope they're friendly.

They're good people. Friendly to those who treat them right. If she ever comes here, I'll introduce you.

...though now I'm trying to imagine a fifty foot mermaid squished into the Marsiva.

That would probably be unpleasant for her and for anyone she was on a ship with. But if it happens I'd be honored to meet any friend of yours.

She'd probably be happy to hear you say that. [Grin.] If she ever does come, I'll definitely introduce you. Though I think I may have to stop her panicking, first.

You don't think she'd be a fan of space?

I don't think she's a fan of any sudden change in location, let alone space. She spent most of her life in her room.

She was targeted by a psychopath when she was a child, and he had the power that any missile or weapon he launched into the air would unerringly find its target if it had a clear path. No matter how far away he was. Her father kept her locked away until her stalker could be dealt with, but that... took a long time.

...Wow.

That's really terrible. And after all that she doesn't want to get out and see the world?

Well, she has duties as a Princess, and she's at least out of her room now. But being under such constant attack since she was a little girl has kind of left its mark. She's just not used to how different the world can be outside her door yet.

Give it time, though. [She grins.] Girl's stronger than she thinks.
