You don't know what a hamster is? It's a small rodent that a lot of people like to keep as pets. [ he shakes his head and waves his hand dismissively. it's explanation time ] It's not broken on the wheel. The wheel is used for exercise since hamsters are often kept in cages where there isn't much room to allow them to run around.

[ it may not be exactly the same, but all that peddling and going nowhere? very hamster-wheel-esque ]

Sounds terrible for the poor blighters! [Really sad, actually.] Knew a man what kept rats for pets. Trained them to pull him about in a small wagon. Often rode through the town, bringing gifts to little children.

They seem to enjoy it well enough. The wheel, I mean. [ the less than impressive living arrangements, maybe not so much. unless it's one of those monstrous enclosures with the various sections and tubes running between everything ]

How many rats did the man have that they could pull him around in a wagon? [ fitz can't help but wonder why he's actually trying to make sense of this... ] Bringing gifts to little children? He sounds like Santa Claus, only with rats instead of reindeer.
