[ he says, with all the fondness in the world. ]

Terrifying would be right.

[ holy hell, two of them. that's an implosion waiting to happen. ]

How are your lessons going?

[winn]

[ they would be sitting there, talking guns, and everyone would be so scared. ]

Really well, she picks things up really fast. And it's fun, getting to talk shop with someone.

[pulcher]

That sounds like Peggy.

[ but he's glad for it. winn is nice and he's kind and peggy is fiercely supportive when she cares for someone, the combination is a good one, he always felt. ]

'm glad you guys have started with this project.

[winn]

[ it really is. peggy's compliments always hit the mark in such a profound way that he feels like he's getting so much more out of these lessons than he's giving. ]

I'm glad you think so -- I...hope you still think so when I tell you she asked me to teach her to delete messages off your phone. [ he feels a little guilty over that, okay, it's steve's phone, it's a violation of privacy. and telling him is a violation of peggy's confidence, but from the way she spoke about it he kinda got the sense that steve was aware of the message so he'd notice that it's gone? and who else would have deleted it for her. they're both his friends and it's...it's been eating away at him, a little bit. ]

[pulcher]

[ the most dry but he's actually biting back on a smile. ]

One message that has to do with emoticons and marriage?

I can neither confirm or deny that but if you check out your phone it'll be happy to -

[ as in yes, absolutely yes, and he's got so many questions. ]

[pulcher]

[ he laughs, his shoulder shaking with it. ]

She's never going to let this go.

[ he had seen this one coming from miles away but still. ]

I showed her how.

[ apologetically, so he may as well have. but at least steve doesn't seem mad? ]

I gotta ask -- I mean, Peggy's kind of the last person I can imagine messing around with emoji -

Oh, well. Since she went and asked you to do it, she can't blame for telling you what's this whole thing about.

[ listen carefully winn, it's amazing. ]

New Year's Eve - your party? I admit I don't remember much of it but Jarvis came to visit Peggy on the Starstruck and I stayed over while she went back. They walked about things, she wanted to make him laugh a bit so - being a bit drunk - she showed him emoticons. Something about an eggplant.

[ he never caught the reference, but oh well. ]

So Jarvis caught up pretty quickly and he sent that message. Weeks later, I see it and for all I know, my phone's been with her the whole time so - jokingly, I told her something about marriage, took her about five minutes to figure it out.

[ which in peggy carter time is about half an hour. ]

She didn't see the humor as much as I did which I why I suspect she wants it gone. Can't have her forged marriage proposal on the phone anymore.

[ .... ]

I kept a screenshot in more than a few copies. You know, for when I can finally convince her the idea isn't that bad.

[ he snorts at the eggplant reference. really not something he expected peggy do go for, he's learning so much!

but then, it ends kinda sad. ]

I'm sure it's not you it's just...complicated, here. [ he's experiencing that complication himself. ]

[pulcher]

[ he senses something, maybe - and smiles. ]

Hey, if I were a captain of a ship, I'd throw your ceremony in a heartbeat. Ask Peggy, maybe it'll make her feel better about the whole thing.

[ it won't; but at least it'll be kinda funny. ]

[winn]

[ there is a faint blush at that, is he that obvious? (yes, yes he is). ]

I'm pretty sure Jim would call dibs.

[pulcher]

Highly likely. Mr. Jarvis can you make you guys an excellent wedding cake.

[ just saying. ]

and you know, Kara would go through the roof.

[winn]

[ oh god, it's so weird to talk about, it's too real. ]

I know. [ he's gonna confess something now. ] She practically went through it when I told her I was thinking about it.

[pulcher]

[ hey, now. he pats his shoulder. ]

Winn, that's amazing. I'm happy for you. It's one hell of a good thing to consider.

[ definitely blushing now, and talking a little faster, more nervously ]

I mean, it's just a thought, there are still so many reasons not to - for starters we've only been together a year, and only under these extreme circumstances, we don't even live on the same ship - though I should transfer, the Twin Roses doesn't have an engineer, which means they don't have shields, which is very bad... [ but the tourist is the best home he's ever had and it's hard to give up on. ] and we could end up separated at any moment it's gonna be hard enough as boyfriend and girlfriend...but I just, I'm sick of living my life based on what could happen, you know? Kara, our team and me...we pulled so many impossible things in the last two years, I gotta believe we can pull this off too.

[pulcher]

Then believe it. Let me tell you something I've learned during my first round -you could be gone tomorrow. anyone could. even if you both met on your earth, there are many things that can happen but if you keep counting those you're gonna miss out.

[ he sighs a bit. ]

Like I did. I never even got to take Peggy on a date, never mind telling her how I felt and I've had to regret that for years. Being here, I've realized how stupid it was. If you love her and she loves you, that's the thing to focus about. The now matters more than anything that could and might happen. I keep thinking that whatever happens - it's better than regretting everything that didn't, believe me, I've been down that road. It ain't pleasant.

[winn]

[ it's his turn to give steve's shoulder a squeeze. if he thought he'd like it, he'd go for a full on hug, but steve never seemed to be into those.

it feels wrong to say anything, right at this moment, so he doesn't. ]

[pulcher]

All I'm sayin' -

[ he clears his throat, this is a self-reminder as much as it is a piece of advice. ]

If you wanna ask her, ask her when the time feels right. There isn't anyone in the world that knows what's gonna happen anyway.

[ and, well. ]

She's very lucky.

[winn]

[ he nods at that and gets back to his sewing with a smile. it's sound advice. ]

We both are. And so's Peggy. [ steve's a great guy. ]

[pulcher]

Well.

[ he shrugs a bit. ]

At least I keep her life interesting if she has to go ask you to delete a fake marriage proposal off my phone.

You and I both know you do way more than that.

[ he's shared her memory. he knows how she cares. ]

She doesn't let me do much. You know I keep moving her birthday present from one spot to another on the Starstruck?

[ it's a nightmare, winn, let him tell you ]
