"But it's tight!" Maglor protests, still tugging at the jacket.

"And why are there all these....metal bits."

[mistyday]

"Quit fussin' so!" She gives his hands a gentle push away from his jacket. "They're decoration, like wearing jewelry."

And since when have elves ever complained about bling?

[bythewaves]

"But they are buttons, not jewellry, and spikes!"

But he takes his hands away from the jacket and tugs a bit at the pants.

"It just feels restrictive..."

"That's not the point. The point is to look badass!"

... she'll just wisely choose not to mention how good his butt looks too.

Blankly, "Why is the fact that my 'ass' is bad important?"

[mistyday]

She laughs. "It's not about your actual ass. A badass is someone who's real tough and doesn't take shit off of anyone."

"Why is one's ass used in such descriptions, then?" YOUR SLANG IS WEIRD.

But he has stopped picking at his clothes?

[mistyday]

She shrugs. "Dunno. Just is. It's definitely a compliment though."

Ordinarily, that might get a blush. Right now he only says "Thank you? But you wanted me here for a reason, you said?"

"Yeah! I wanted you to hear this guy, he's amazing! Like I know this ain't your kinda music and all, but I think you'll really like him."

"Well, I do trust your taste..." He smiles at her and settles.

"Alright. Which one is he?"

[mistyday]

Misty leans in towards Maglor and points out one of the singers on stage, who is decked out in a patched denim jacket and a green mohawk. "That guy, right there, with the big hair." The band is still fiddling with their equipment so it'll be a few minutes yet until the show starts.

"Why is his hair green?" Maglor wonders, obediently settling next to her.

[mistyday]

She shrugs. "'Cause it's cool!"

[bythewaves]

Maglor laughs softly.

"Reason enough, I suppose, although your slang continues to confound me!"

[mistyday]

"Come on, ain't there any elf slang I don't know about?"

[bythewaves]

"Hm, I do not know what would qualify! But we do not tend to use slang, in any case - too imprecise."

[mistyday]

"No slang at all? I don't believe that!"

[bythewaves]

He laughs softly. "No slang, not really! Not in the way you have."

[mistyday]

"Is that just an elf thing or is that a everyone in your world sorta thing?"

[bythewaves]

"An elf thing - particularly a thing in my family, I suspect! Father was a stickler for language - he loved words and how they formed and what they sounded like. We were raised to the precise use of language, and well. When you have lots of words for things, slang is less common. I'm sure you'd find more slang in the younger races - Men and Hobbits, mostly, as I suspect Khuzdul is as precise as Elvish, in it's own way. Maedhros might be able to tell you, he was good friends with the Dwarf King Azhagal."

"So y'all are a bunch of nerds, is what I am gettin' from this."

[bythewaves]

"You are lucky Winn taught me what 'nerds' means." He informs her with a laugh. "But yes, probably that is a very good description."

[mistyday]

She grins back at him but before she can say anything else, the music finally starts up with a raucous beat of the drums and the crowd lets out a cheer. For a full minute, it's nothing but instruments, guitars and percussion and people dancing, but then... the guy she pointed out to Maglor earlier starts to sing. His voice is absolutely haunting - nothing like the usual angry rasp most of these types of bands seem to prefer.

Maglor starts at the noise, much louder than he is used to, but when the lead singer starts to sing... ah!

His eyes flutter shut to better listen and he smiles.

"Oh!"
