My only concern is the comfort of others. [Said with far too much sarcasm, because Kurt likes to pride himself on being a jerk and defiant in the face of other's discomfort. That is, until they matter to him.]

Not a bad one to have.

[ no sarcasm here. yeah, he knows from experience how much kurt enjoys being a jerk - but look at them now. he's gotten him a drink, made him a loving video, that's pretty damn considerate. ] Wanna grab a seat somewhere? I think my ears are starting to bleed - [ it's loud on that stage. ]

[A very awkward loving video because there were witnesses and Kurt couldn't reference one of the things he's most grateful to Winn for.]

Oh, it's loud for you too? [Asked as Kurt turns to lead a path through the club, weaving between their fellow club-goers like he's made of liquid instead of flesh and bone.] I'm never quite certain which of my senses are normal and which aren't.

[ it's the love that matters to winn, he's always awkward he'd be a terrible hypocrite if he minded it in anyone else. kurt can always reference it in person though, if he wants. ]

After they claim a seat. On spotting a table slightly away from the dancing with enough seating for Kitty to squeeze in if she showed, Kurt jerks his thumb toward it in silent inquiry.]

[ he nods and grabs one of those seats. ]

[Kurt settles himself into another, pushing it back far enough to crouch on the seat instead of sitting.]

Danke. Figured we should save the lady a seat if she happens by.

She'll appreciate it.

[ it's highly likely, kitty comes to see him perform a lot. ]

[Kurt grins, knocks back a little of his drink before continuing.]

Speaking of Katzchen, how did the two of you enjoy your anniversary celebrations? [The hint of mischief hopefully hides the pang the subject brings; if Wrath were still here they'd be celebrating too, and she'd have probably talked him into clothing that was more elaborate than dark and vaguely reminiscent of a pirate (it's the sleeves.)]

[ he nods. it's loud and dark enough that hints are easy to miss. ]

Did she tell you what I got her?

I filmed a puppet baseball game, built us bleachers and a seadog stand, and took her to watch it. Got Steve to commentate it, too.

[ he's really proud of it, okay, it took a lot of work. ]

[Kurt starts grinning at baseball, and the corners of his mouth don't stop spreading until Winn's finished describing the set-up.]

Careful, Winn. That's how a man gets proposed to!

[ he laughs because simultaneous proposals would be about their brand of awkward. ]

Actually it's more like how a man gets shoved into the next room and have his mind blown.

[Maybe it's inappropriate for him to sound so proud of her, but oh well, he is who he is.]

[ it's inappropriate for winn to talk about it, particularly to her best friend, didn't stop him! ]

That's definitely my Kitty. [ weak joke is weak but had to be made, okay! ]

With her force of personality, I think it's the other way around.

[Not that Kurt is judging; his taste in women leans toward women that could hurt him badly, and he isn't ashamed to admit it. Taste in men.. he's still figuring that one out, in between wrestling with whether he even should.]

So. I mentioned not being able to say everything I wanted to.

Point -

[ he laughs; that's pretty much winn's taste in women too; women who could, and do end up hurting him. things have been remarkably good with kitty so far.

he leans in closer to be able to hear him better when he continues though, cuz this seems serious. he is all ears! ]

[And Kurt's first act is to take a rather large sip of his drink. Dun dun dunnnn. He sets it down and leans toward Winn, pitching his voice a little lower.]

The reason I spoke so much about secrets is because you know one of mine that no one else ever has; not my wife, nor anyone I've ever loved. To be quite frank, something like that could get me killed back home if the wrong person decided they don't care for that sort of thing. But it doesn't frighten me, you knowing this.

I trust you. [And for a Darkholme, that means more than love; the heart will do what it wants, but trust is a choice.]

[ are you trying to make him cry, kurt? this is all a ploy to ruin his makeup, isn't it. his eyes definitely glisten. ]

I will never break that trust. [ he means it, too. he might be forced to tell it if he's glitched, but of his own volition? he'll take it to his grave, if kurt doesn't decide to open up about it. ] I wish I could say that it's a safe secret to tell in my world, but there's still plenty of hate, unfortunately. I know how that feels.

[ he shares the secret and the fear of what could happen should it be revealed. three people know, in his case - kitty, kurt, and jim. he trusts all of them, but none of them he told by choice, and if it remains his choice, no one else will find out, either. ]

[No and please don't cry, Kitty might kill him. Kurt's automatic reaction is to scoot closer, impeccable balance the only thing keeping him on his seat as he reaches to rub Winn's back. It's the only thing he can think to do.]

I know you won't. [Just as he knows, with an increasing weight in his chest, that it isn't fair to ask him to keep secrets from Kitty. Secrets in his own marriage, even the ones Linda had asked him to keep, had strained it nearly to breaking more than once. Each time it had taken a fraction longer to recover, and he doesn't want that for them. Especially not because of him.] I'll tell her, Winn. [The words come out in a shaky whisper, and he clears his throat before speaking again.] I'm going to tell Kitty--as soon as I have the words.

[ kitty will not kill him for making him cry, especially not happy tears. but kurt's safe; winn's spent most of his life hiding feelings, he's usually good at not crying. he smiles at the gesture.

he would hate to think that kurt is doing it for him, kitty's his best friend - he should tell her for himself. ]

Well, I warmed her up for you - [ she knows about him. and she's been...incredibly cool about it. the only relationships in his life she's expressed jealousy for to him were with his guy friends, so he'd totally get her having a negative reaction to learning that there's a possibility for sexual attraction there too, but there was nothing. she kept trying to get him to own up to it, to accept himself. if she did that for him, he has no doubt she'll be cool as it gets for kurt. ]

[Keeping secrets from a friend isn't the worst thing Kurt's done to someone he loved; ask the ghost of Bobby Drake. It isn't even the first or last thing he's kept from her. Sometimes the kindest gift is a lie.

Just like the smile he manages at Winn's joke, shaky with nerves but trying for good humor.] Ja, that you did.

[ kitty wouldn't see it that way. there were times winn has felt that keeping anything from her is considered a terrible offense, even when it was just him not feeling ready to share because they haven't known each other that long yet. ]

It won't matter to her - you know that, right?

[Very few people would. It's one of his mother's legacies that Kurt has made his peace with being misunderstood.]

Wish I could say I did. [Logically, he does. If Kitty accepted her boyfriend being qu--bisexual, and how strange it is to have a word for something he assumed for so long was human default--then it makes no sense for her to reject him. But if she did--] It's a lot to risk.
