Well, to our credit, they are different flavored, but yes. Perhaps we can add some to your pudding and get an interesting new dessert for the entire Fleet to enjoy.

[Yes, she has missed a fair number of broadcasts. She's not used to paying attention to a communication device. She's caught a few videos, and managed to reply to some, but mostly she's still adjusting.]

The puddings came in a lot of weird flavors. I don't know if adding syrup would be a good idea.

[Ignis has ignored a great deal of them himself, so she doesn't need to worry about that.]

I'm sure there are some flavor combinations that would be abhorrent, but there are just as many that might be very palatable. However, unless either owner is ready to give me a little of their rewards, I fear that it will have to stay theoretical.

Well, I could always ask sometime. Carl seemed pretty unenthusiastic about some of the flavors.

[Not that she could blame him. She might not be able to taste anything, but some flavor combinations can still sound questionable.]

Hm, that might be worth a look then. Kaiden has already said that I could take some of every flavor if I so chose. I just can't imagine what we'd use the rest of it for.

[He is still a little stunned at the sheer volume of syrup they'd been gifted on the First Breath.]

Well, I could ask the others how they feel about syrup. It would be a shame for it to go to waste.

[In spite of appearances and everything she's been through, there's still a part of Velvet that things like a practical village girl. She doesn't like the thought of wasting food.]

If we stay in this system much longer, I might suggest to him that he try to barter or sell what he cannot give away to others.

The thought of it going to waste isn't something I would enjoy myself.

[It's not her pudding to sell, of course, but she could pass along the idea if it seems like it's not getting eaten.]

I do, on occasion, make sense.

Besides, it seems to me that we can't always rely on our "fans" for the things we may actually want or need.

[She quirks an eyebrow, putting her bandaged hand on her hip.]

Well, I find that others are good for finding out information when needed, but sometimes you must rely on them for more. Gathering provisions, however, is something that one can do for oneself.

[It also sounds kind of political, but that's okay. As long as he's not supporting a church that wants to remove emotions and free will. But he doesn't really seem like the type.

She nods a little in agreement.]

We kind of have to rely on others here, too. Taking care of a space ship by yourself would probably be impossible.

Dramatic though it may sound, it is exactly what I am supposed to be. Though, I suppose "adviser" is the more common title.

[It's totally political. Kind of hard not to be when your best friend is also your king.]

I agree that no man—or woman—can take care of one of the many ships alone. I seems highly unlikely, given all of the complicated positions just my vessel alone has. I don't understand half of the machines that are used nor do I think that any one person here does.

"Advisor" doesn't sound as exciting.

[She might be kind of teasing again.]

But, yeah. My augment only supplies information relevant to piloting. I don't know what to do with a lot of the other technology on the ship.

No, it doesn't, but it sounds better than steward or bodyguard.

[Which, honestly, is exactly what his position is in the household of Lucian kings. Not that he's told her that. Not that he will.

My augment is for that of the cook on my ship. It seemed a bit superfluous, considering my hobbies include experimental cooking. However, it has helped me to know exactly what all of the appliances do. I suppose I could find another augment to help the rest of my shipmate in a different way, if I wanted.

There are worse things to be than a bodyguard.

[She doesn't see anything wrong with that particular label, really. It's kind of impressive in its own way.]

Oh, that's pretty lucky. I don't know what half the things in the kitchen do.

[It's really weird for her to understand how to navigate a ship, but not how to use stuff in the kitchen. Most of the appliances are foreign to her, and that on top of her own inability to taste anything has kept her from trying to cook since she arrived in the fleet.]

Oh, there are, but it depends on whom one is guarding, doesn't it?

[Not that his job is all that hard. He enjoys the company and his goals align rather closely with Noctis's. He just wishes that it was easier to get the prince up some days. His job as royal nanny doesn't pay enough sometimes.]

She considers his offer for a moment, then shrugs a little. Why not. She's not necessarily planning on trying to become the Red Fish's cook, but she'd at least like to know how things work.]

That's good to hear. But I must warn you that there are some here that will call me a vicious task master when it comes to the art of cooking.

[So in other words she's not too worried. She has a lot of confidence in her own skills. Though either way she feels like she can probably handle it. If she can handle Artorius' training she can handle Ignis.]

Some of it is a little more advanced to what I had to use back home, but it's mostly the same. The rampant use of the protein substitute is a little appalling which is why I'm trying to gather ways to bring fresh food back with us to the Fleet.

[It's good to know that she's not a novice in the kitchen. However, while he might not be a slave driver in the training arena, he doesn't allow for sloppiness in the kitchen at all.]

[She has confidence in her abilities. Celica was a good teacher.]

Good idea. I don't think there's much to be done with those gels.

[She will have to prove herself. Show those skills from your sister.]

There is a surprising amount of what to do with the gels. They just all taste relatively the same in the end.

[She will!]

Really? [She sighs.] I guess it's all the same to me in the end, anyway.

[She can eat the gels without complaint about the flavor, really. Lacking a sense of taste is kind of helpful that way. The texture gets a little old, though.]

There are minute differences, but they all suffer from the same consistency and I fear that mars any possibility of it tasting "different" to me in the long run.

Of course, I've been accused of being a bit of a snob when it comes to food before now.
