[ After her conversation with Mon-El, she doesn't call or text Kate, she just checks out her usual haunts on the fleet and hopes to find her. If she's lucky, she'll be near some super brew ]

[ fortunately for kara, kate's current haunt is the same one that nets her money. she's behind the counter at malum -- her back to the bar's room while she ticks through inventory on the shelves. counting out the good stuff, the middle stuff, the stuff they pass off as the bad stuff but is still pretty good stuff.

she can hear that someone's entered the establishment, but she's not quick to turn around. whoever it is will announce themselves in time. ]

[ kate tosses aside a stubby pencil and leans on the bar top. ]

Mon-El just came clean about lying to me about a really big thing for a pretty long time.

And you know how I took lying-by-omission earlier. This is way worse.

[ okay. kate frowns -- and then crouches to unlock a cabinet beneath the bar housing some of the little remaining superbrew in malum's inventory. when she rises, she grabs a shot glass with her free hand. ]

How worse is 'way' worse?

Do you have the Hatfield and McCoys in your world? Think that level of way worse, except on a planet scale going back hundreds of years where the Hatfields represent science and democracy and freedom and the McCoys promote slavery and hedonism. Just call him Prince McCoy.

[ At some point after her discussion with her boyfriend, Kara decides that pouting is less fun alone and goes to find Chekov. When she catches him, she aims for upbeat and probably lands somewhere between Eeyore and Sadness from Inside Out ]

Do you know where any candy is?

[Chekov is doing a bit of pouting of his own when she catches him hanging out around his bunk. Kara not-so-sunny disposition has him reaching for a bag of rock candy (how hilariously thematic are the stores in this system?), no questions asked.]

I'm almost entirely certain that these are edible, but I can make no guarantees.

[ she flops on his bunk, totally comfortable in his space ]

[He puts the candies right by her hand and flops next to her.]

[ At some point in all of her processing, Kara decides to go to the gym and work out some frustrations. She doesn't even notice when Natasha slips in (probably)—she's working on one of the extra strength punching bags with intense focus ]

[Natasha didn't try to sneak in, but Kara is focused and Natasha is naturally a light step. She pauses while wrapping her own knuckles to have a go at the regular old punching bag, watching her work out her feelings.]

[ she glances over. she became aware of Nat's presence after she entered but didn't pay attention to who it was ]

Yeah, you could say that.

[An arched brow, mixing curiosity and concern with a sort of profession distance.]

Guess it's better to take it out on the bag than on people. ...Should I ask what happened?

[ she stills the bag with both hands and sighs, unsure if she wants to go down this path. But she also wants to know. ]

Did you know about Mon-El being a prince?

[Natasha's expression softens at that, a little surprise allowed to show on her face.]

It never came up.

Fenris | OTA

[Before the calibrations, at least, Fenris is about as settled as he can be. He's never a fan of drifting weeks. He doesn't like to feel trapped. He splits his time between shifts in the Space Bar, and exercising in the ship's cargo hold- lifting weight, punching the punching bag, so on.

You might catch him on a rare moment of quiet, though, curled up on a chair in the kitchen, reading up whatever book he's got his hands on recently. ]

[Chekov runs into Fenris in the hold on his way to a session of punching bag frustration-venting. He's too polite to express his dismay at finding someone else in the area, but also too transparent to hide that dismay entirely.]

Fenris, hello.

[Fenris does, at least, pause in his punching to glance over his shoulder, and offers Chekov a small smile.]

Oh. Hello, Chekov. Do you wish to use the bag? I'm almost done.

I will use it after you finish. Please, take your time.

[He turns his attention to the weights. He's more of a runner than a lifter, but drifting lends itself better to some kinds of exercise than others.]

I'm almost sad to leave the last system. It was exciting there.

[He nods, going back to his punching. On occasion, his tattoos glow and his fist passes right through the bag, but he returns himself to his normal state fairly quickly. ]

I suppose it was interesting enough. After so long, they all seem to be the same. Every one has problems, or some work to do, or some...foolishness to deal with. There never seems to be an end goal, it's rather...frustrating.

[At least in Exsilium, he had the end of the war to reach for. A goal. ]

[That... is not something that he knew Fenris could do. Is it rude to ask about that? It's probably rude. He tries not to stare.]

It is frustrating, all of this... aimlessness, and our lack of control over our destinations, and how we are traveling and traveling with no reason behind it. But at least there is the opportunity to explore. I prefer this to being trapped in a city or a dome, and I like having the stars.

[Hi, Tourist, remember this girl who used to be here maybe more often than she was on her own ship? She's pretty well cleaned out Winn's room by now, after letting others take whatever mementos they wanted. But there's still the matter of the yellow sun generator that she and Winn set up. She wants to check it out and make sure everything is running smoothly. So, you might find her performing some maintenance or you might just catch her in the halls. Or even lurking in the doorway of an empty room, thinking about your old shipmate, Winn. But, you know, she's trying not to linger on that. Easier said than done.]
