[ Since Mon-El's coma and Kara's discovery of it, she's been laying low. And by laying low, I mean she's been wearing pajamas and laying face down in her bed and eating cereal at all hours. the girl is in a funk.

Part of that funk is avoiding calling people to check up, which had become part of her routine. At first she just lost track of time and then she felt stupid for being so upset about a guy... it's a vicious cycle ]

[It takes a little time before Chekov, in a similar funk because of a different comatose person, works himself up to looking for Kara. No one who has recently learned that her handsome alien boyfriend is in a coma should need to be alone if she doesn't really want to be.

Also, Chekov kind of wants a hug.

He knocks lightly on Kara's door.]

Kara? Are you home?

[ she briefly considers not responding but that would be rude and people would worry. And she could use the company, anyway, especially from someone like Pavel ]

Oh—yeah. Come in. Don't mind the clutter?

[Oh good, she's alive and responsive! He comes in, accompanied by a small bag of assorted GlamCo(TM) brand sweets.]

I never mind clutter. [Instead of sitting or making himself comfortable, he holds the candies out to Kara.] I'm assured that these are the best things to eat on the entire planet.

[ she smiles. it's a somewhat feeble attempt at her cheery self, but it's honest. She really is appreciative ]

[ she makes room in her bed nest for him ]

[Natasha didn't hear about Mon-El for a few days. Not that strange. She keeps tabs on things, but not that close of tabs.

When she finds out, she makes a trip over. She might be wrong, but she feels like Kara might be the type to mope.

She also might be the type who'd like someone else to distract her when she's moping.]

Hey. Up for some popcorn?

[ she pulls the covers over her head. her action says mehhhhhh but then she speaks ]

[Natasha's words are more light than her tone, which has a distinct note of sympathy.]

Okay, but you can't tell Jim about it. He'll lose his mind.

[Mon-El is not Fenris' favourite person - but Kara is definitely one of them, so he'll absolutely be checking up on her. The fact she's not been her chirpy self making sure everyone else is okay is rather telling. He's worried.

So, he'll be seeking her out, knocking on her door.]

[ she's clearly been watching something on her communicator but pauses it when he approaches the door and sits up ]

[Upon the fleet's arrival in the Kayanni system, Chekov wasted no time in going planetside to check out the vast city-world's infinite array of distractions. (His favorite things are the hovers. There's a delightful element of not-too-dangerous-danger in flying through the air and trying to remember the various signals and traffic laws.)

As soon as he learned that Kitty was in a coma, however, he retreated to the Tourist. He has since been splitting his time between brooding in his bunk with a bottle of decent potato-based vodka from a previous system, poking around the communications station on the bridge in a halfhearted attempt to improve it, and beating up the helpless punching bag in the cargo hold. If he's going to be sad the entire time he's in the fleet, he may as well be a drunk, useful, and-or buff sad person.]

[It's not a fun month for some of the crew on the Tourist, wow. Fenris will eventually find Chekov beating that poor punching bag to a pulp. Poor guy. What did it ever do to you, Pavel? Fenris steps forward, smiling a little. ]

I think you are about to turn it to fluff at this rate. Would you prefer a sparring partner?

[Because that's easier than talking about feelings, right? ]

[Hey, Chekov and punching bags have a history. One retaliated against him not so long ago. He may never recover from the embarrassment of being hit in the face with an inanimate object in front of Natasha.

Chekov pauses and stills the swinging bag.]

I haven't sparred with a partner since the Academy. If you are willing to be patient with me then I would prefer that, yes.

[The he must do what he must against the scourge that are punching bags. Fenris lets out an amused little hum.]

I am sure I can manage that. I will do my best to not break anything.

I will do the same. [He doesn't for a moment think that he's in any danger of beating Fenris up.

Although he doesn't really remember how the sparring thing works--it wasn't a subject that he focused on or excelled at, as shocking as that might be--putting his fists up seems like a good place to start.]

[He does admire Kirk and aspire to be more like him. You know, in a sensible way. Pavel does not want to incur McCoy's wrath on a daily basis.

Chekov halts the bag on its next swing so it doesn't hit him in the face. Judging by the sweat and the scraped knuckles, he's been at this for a while.]
