Waking up #1
Who: Katie McCoy and anyone
Broadcast: Yas
Action: Vanquish
When: 23/8
[Action]
[Vanquish crew might get a heads up that Katie's woken up by the short, one-sided conversation she appears to be having with a demanding and loud cat, muffled through the walls of the personnel room where she sleeps. Not that there's a lot of talking-- a lot of silence on her part, actually, punctuated first with the sharp words "How long?" And then a little later--"Oh, I see. Taking advantage of people again, are you? Tsk."
She lets herself out of the room eventually, still blinking drowsily and her hair tugged back into some semblance of a braid, Licorice a small black shadow winding around her ankles that seems very intent on tripping her up. Which-- don't give her that, you little shit.]
Doesn't work on me. If so many people are feeding you, I bet you've had scads of affection. Don't be such a brat.
[Doesn't stop her from padding barefoot into the kitchen anyway to fetch both of them some food. Morning, crew, wherever you are.]
[Text is my favourite medium]
It seems I slept through show and tell
Pity
But I only got some wonderful movies to add to our collection
[...they're like D-grade. One of them's called Attack of the Killer Refrigerator, I mean c'mon.]
I wonder, has anyone seen Event Horizon?
Fantastic movie, though it's very far-fetched
Plenty of loving moments
Morpheus fought to free his crew from a ship that wouldn't let them go
before he quit and went on to try proving the universe wasn't real
I love sci-fi, don't you?
Better than real life any day
Has anyone given thought to the fact that maybe we're the cameras?
What's the worst movie you've ever seen?
[She probably has points in there somewhere. She was going to waffle about movies ages ago, but then she fell asleep. How rude.]
((ooc: I haven't linked to Katie's permissions for a while.))

Video;
That- what do you mean, it was a movie? Last place I was in that was an actual thing. Portal to Hell and everything.
Video;
...okay not. Actually a response she'd considered, but she can roll with that. Have a British lady, Crowley.]
If these places have taught me anything, it's that every work of fiction is likely real somewhere. [The great connected multiverse of whatthefuckery.] What place was this?
Video;
That is, unfortunately true. I met Sherlock Holmes once. Like. Actually him. But modern. It was weird.
Paradisa. Magical castle, kidnapped people and fed on their emotions. It sent us off into space onto the Event Horizon. And the Lewis and Clarke. We just assumed it was the castle being a piece of shit like it always was.

text.
Welcome to the land of the responsible adult.
This isn't as dramatic in text, but I'm relieved you're up and around.
text. 1/2
bye I'm going back to sleep
text.
I suppose I can't annoy you terribly while sleeping, though. How's live in double vision land?
text. private.
I'm reaching out for potential help after you lured some magic users in. So.

[Because Kitty will wake up. He refuses to believe otherwise.]
[text]
I think everyone on a giant mysterious ship that likes to eat people and ships should be into science fiction.
text
being on cameras all the time is pretty normal isn't it
the worst movie i've ever seen is this one called forever love 19 and it's just like about this dude from the army who is sad about everything and his boyfriend who is sad about everything and then they are sad about everything for like two hours and then they both walk into the ocean the end i really didn't understand it but they both had nice butts i guess
text
nice butts can save many a movie
though that does sound like an awful lot of moping
it isn't where I come from. My entire world is very camera shy.
text
oh that's kind of cool though like there's constant surveillance in my city because antisocial behavior could really mess the environmental systems up but maybe if you don't have to worry about it...

[No, Katie.]

But just how tiny IS this box, lass?
[He recognizes you from the calibrations, Katie, but he doesn't know your name.]
A++

[But gj Mikleo, you get it. It's a relief.]
Augments do seem very powerful, don't they? Something capable of randomly turning us into children could do what it damn well pleased.
text;
[SO EMBARRASSING]
The fact that they're so powerful is probably why we're not able to remove them.

And what are you talking about? What are movies?
text
Do you have plays where you're from?
text
And I guess there are plays. We have books with them in there. I'm sure the humans get bored and act them out.

He sort of jolts upright a little when he notices her walk in. It's a combination of having pretty much avoided her (okay, everyone) for the first few weeks after Calibrations and then...her having gone into a coma. It's been a while. After a couple seconds, he relaxes again, though he doesn't go back to his reading.]
Hey. Welcome back.
o7
[Hope he likes cats because Licorice is gonna stop tripping her up long enough to bunt Felix in the ankle. She's not being fed fast enough for her liking. Katie yawns indelicately and tucks more of her hair back, shuffling straight for the coffee pot.]
Feels like a year since I last saw you. Anything fun happen while I was away?
