Who: Varric and open
Broadcast: Video, and open!
Action: The Huntress crew & visitors.
When: The end of March (after dragon stuff I guess?)
[action;]
[After taking a nice hot shower to wash off a month's worth of dust, Varric is back in business being his nosy self. You bet he's checking the food stores to see how much of the crap he imported is still there, as well as the cargo bay because 1. that's where his desk is and 2. he had a buttload of alcohol there last time he checked.
But really, he's just wandering around so that he can check on his crewmates. He's worried by some of the things he's reading, and he hasn't even set foot on the planet yet.]
[Varric eventually settles at his desk and turns on the nearest comm console. Honestly, he looks like nothing's changed. At all. But there is a nervous energy in how his fingers dance along the edge of his makeshift desk, rustling some papers.]
Good evening. Did you all miss me? Don't be shy, we have all night. [Is his chest hair visible? Yes it is.]
I think I'm mostly caught up on what I missed during my exceptionally long beauty nap. [His brown eyes glimmer dangerously in the low light.] Something about peasant uprisings and dragons? Sounds like home.

[He glances away for a moment, shuffles something aside.] They probably just sent her back home. I'm sure she's fine. [Lonely and maladjusted, but there's only so much Varric can do to help her.]

[Fenris may not be able to read much, but he has damn well learned the names of people who matter to him.]
Chances are she has been sent back to Thedas. [OK, he'll try at comfort, even if it comes out all awkward and clinical as usual. ] I'm sure she will be fine, Varric.
[There there? ]

If Hawke's here, we'll have to add another chair for Wicked Grace. Stakes will be higher. Think you're up for it?

You know I'd never miss it, Varric. One day, I might win back some dignity lost at previous games.
Or at least some coin.

Maybe if you make eyes at Hawke he'll hand over his winnings.
[Some things never change.]

[There are NO PUPPY EYES. Except maybe for Dorian. But he will still deny they exist.]
Besides, why go to that effort when you can just get him drunk enough to start talking about turning into a dragon again? That's distraction enough.

[There are so many puppy eyes, don't lie, Fenris.]
You'd think Hawke start expecting that by now, seeing as it's been used before. If you think he's getting wise I'll grab some of the harder stuff.

When it comes to dragons, and the possibility of turning into one of them, I don't think Hawke will ever get wise. But it might not be a bad idea, all the same.
