Who: Varric and open
Broadcast: Video, and open!
Action: The Huntress crew & visitors.
When: The end of March (after dragon stuff I guess?)
[action;]
[After taking a nice hot shower to wash off a month's worth of dust, Varric is back in business being his nosy self. You bet he's checking the food stores to see how much of the crap he imported is still there, as well as the cargo bay because 1. that's where his desk is and 2. he had a buttload of alcohol there last time he checked.
But really, he's just wandering around so that he can check on his crewmates. He's worried by some of the things he's reading, and he hasn't even set foot on the planet yet.]
[video;]
[Varric eventually settles at his desk and turns on the nearest comm console. Honestly, he looks like nothing's changed. At all. But there is a nervous energy in how his fingers dance along the edge of his makeshift desk, rustling some papers.]
Good evening. Did you all miss me? Don't be shy, we have all night. [Is his chest hair visible? Yes it is.]
I think I'm mostly caught up on what I missed during my exceptionally long beauty nap. [His brown eyes glimmer dangerously in the low light.] Something about peasant uprisings and dragons? Sounds like home.

Of course, the mention of Anders might also be contributing to that.
... He locks the conversation as much as he can, though he's not a comm officer so...]
And here I was trying not to let that part go public. You know, for the benefit of the angry Tevinter elf who doesn't need a good reason to rip his heart out through his chest.
I know you're pissed-- we all are-- but I hope you're level-headed enough to see that killing each other won't solve anything.

If it upsets Anders, then so be it. A small price to pay.]
Those from our world shouldn't be left in the dark. I'm not about to make an announcement, but I'm not going to play oblivious, either.

Oh, that's just great. [His tone is dripping with sarcasm.] I'm sure Hawke will be pleased to find out his friend is more paranoid and neurotic than he remembers, thanks to you both.

[Which is the point of all of this.]

Trust me, Hawke is well aware of what he's dealing with. [He just doesn't... make the best decisions. Like uh, helping Anders set up the bomb, that's. A thing...
He sighs a bit, realizing this is going nowhere. It's not like he wants to stand up for Anders, so he's not. As usual, Varric is mostly concerned about Hawke in this whole mess.]
Speaking of magic, there's at least one person on the ship-- our ship-- who can use it. Apparently mages don't get possessed by demons on other worlds. Can I trust you not to give people a hard time, Sir Templar?
locked;
At Varric's--request--he sighs, rubbing the knot between his brows.]
I don't--[He sighs again.] I work with mages on a day-to-day basis, t home. I take no issue with the mages here. [As long as they stay out of trouble.] And that's Ex-Templar, to you.
locked;
I figured-- but I had to give you a hard time anyway. I give everyone a hard time. It's my job.
[He pauses.]
I do have a question for you, though.
Was the Hawke you met, uh, a woman? I'm starting to wonder if I made the whole thing up.

A strange predicament we've fond ourselves in.

That's an understatement.
By the way, you're welcome to try the wine I brought back from the moons. I think you and I are the only people old enough to drink on this damn ship.
There's some harder stuff, too, but some of it tastes like the crap that comes out of the drink dispenser. Fair warning.
