[Welcome new crew and visitors to the SS Blue Fish! There's been some additions to the crew, some grievous losses and some activity as they prepare these finale days to leave the planet of Mor. Don't mind the two cats and large amounts of meat being stored. Since Blue Fish lacks a pilot, the ship can still be found docked in Mor's volcano until they leave the planet for anyone who wants to drop by for a visit!]

[Was Kairi disappointed? Yes, but it had nothing to do with the crew itself. She had hoped she would be put on the same ship as Riku and Sora, or if not, at least on Lea's (or Axel, whatever he was going by) ship. However, she had quickly discovered that wasn't the case. Maybe she shouldn't have gotten her hopes up so much...

It wasn't the crew's fault, though, so she did her best to hide the sinking feeling and instead keep a smile on her face. Being on a ship with total strangers was a little intimidating, but she was determined to give it her best shot.

But first things first, she needed to get a lay of the land, so to speak. So Kairi could be found all over the ship, exploring and trying to get an idea of what was in store. That and getting to know her new crew mates, of course.]

[Allen is sitting at the table when Kairi comes wandering in, going through some lists. He looks up when he hears someone enter. He doesn't recognize her, which points to the new crewmate that got assigned]

Ah- hello!

Are you Kairi? I- read that you were added to our ship.

[Kairi had noticed the other man when she had walked in, but seeing as he looked like he was reading, hadn't wanted to bother him. However, she wasn't quiet enough not to attract attention, it seemed.

She smiled and nodded at him.]

Yes, I am. I just came to check out the kitchen, I didn't mean to bug you.

[he shakes his head]

It's fine, don't worry! I was just checking the supply list.

I'm Allen. I'm the first mate and one of the medics. It's nice to meet you.

[Allen. Medic. She's trying to learn the names as best as she can, and their jobs. Luckily Allen is pretty distinct, in terms of appearance. His hair was the same color as Riku's, and that tattoo over his eye...]

Nice to meet you, too! I think I'm a cook? I'm pretty sure, anyway. I'm still trying to get the hang of cooking with the... food they have here.

Ha- I'm not sure it really counts as food, but we try to keep the kitchen stocked with real ingredients as much as we can. Do you have much experience cooking?

[Excuse her while she hurries over to the cabinets to see for herself, though she doesn't ignore his question.]

Oh, I do. I cook a lot back home! The boys - my two best friends, they were always hungry, and I liked cooking, so I used to do it a lot for them.

Mm! At least some stuff!

[And true to his word, the cabinet is stock of all sorts of food they picked up from the moons and Mor. There's a disproportionate amount of meat stuff thanks to Sokka. But - there's plenty of vegetables and other things too!]

Oh, that's really nice of you! What are they like?

[She never thought she'd be so happy to see actual food. So much that she can't help but sigh in relief, smiling as she carefully picks through what they have, just to see what all they have.]

They're... both very kind, in their own ways. One of them is pretty enthusiastic, and the other one is quiet. It's funny, they're pretty different in some ways, but they're still best friends. They're both caring, selfless, giving... almost a little too much. They've both been fighting so hard back home, and I know they won't give up.

[Whoops, almost started rambling too much there.]

Actually, they're both already here. Not on this ship, but in the fleet. Sora and Riku. Have you met them?

[Oh hey, it's a new person. Sokka appears from...whatever the heck he was doing (probably robots) and gives her a lazy wave. ]

Oh uh, hey. Welcome to the Blue Fish.

[Kairi turned around, away from the treadmill she had been inspecting, and smiled at Sokka.]

Hello! Thank you. I'm Kairi - although I guess everyone knows that from the announcement.

It kinda makes it obvious. I'm Sokka, your captain for this fun filled romp through space.

Oh! [She gives him a little salute.] Nice to meet you, Captain Sokka!

Just Sokka's fine. So what augment have you got? Please say it's cooking. Please.

Actually, it is! And I did a lot of cooking back home, so I have experience with it. I'm no chef or anything, but I'm used to cooking for a bunch of people.

[Sokka's smile widens. ]

We just lost our last cook, and really? This ship likes food. We're food people.

[Her smile falls after that bit of info.]

Oh, I'm sorry you lost a crewmate. I didn't realize I was replacing someone.

[Hopefully they liked her cooking, even if it was different than the last cook's.]

That's good to know, though. I guess that explains all the regular food. Did you guys have to buy that yourself? The mothership didn't have any real good at all.

[Beverly was just on her way to the shuttle bay when she sees Kairi wandering down the hall. Smiling brightly, she stops her new crewmate.]

Hello! It's Kairi, right? I saw the announcement this morning that we were getting a new crew member. I'm Dr. Crusher!

[Kairi turned, smiling and waving to the older woman.]

Yeah, I am. Nice to meet you! I guess you're the other medic on the ship?

[Medic might be a tiny bit of an understatement of Beverly's job, but she certainly isn't going to correct Kairi. It's close enough.]

I am, though fortunately Allen and I haven't been too busy on the medical front yet. However, I would like to start a round of crew physicals soon, just so I have a baseline for everyone. Whenever you want to schedule a time for that, you can just send me a personal message on my com.

You're our new cook, correct? Do you happen to know how to make croissants? I tried to bake some earlier and well, I wouldn't say it was a complete disaster, but...

[That's a bit of good news. It means serious injury isn't a hugely common thing around here, which likely means less danger.]

That sounds like a good idea, especially with people from so many different worlds here. I'll definitely let you know once I get settled here. I haven't had one in awhile, anyway.

I am. I haven't made them in awhile, but I think I remember how. [Her augment is helping a bit here, unbeknownst to her.] Would it be with normal food or with ... whatever food substitute they use? It might not turn out as well with the substitute.

Oh! Good! [She claps her hands together.] The kitchen has flour and sugar and powdered eggs and some sort of imitation butter. All the basics for baking. Sokka has made our kitchen a priority, so you're lucky, you've got a lot more to work with than some of the other cooks! I'd be more than happy to help you out... it's a lot of work to keep this crew fed.

That sounds doable. I can help make them whenever! I could go for one, actually.

[That suddenly explained Sokka's enthusiasm for a cook.]

No wonder he was so happy to get a cook. [She smiles at the memory.] And no wonder the cabinets were so stocked. Not that I'm complaining! The less I have to work with the substitute, the better.

Ah, I'd love help. Cooking's more fun with others!

You really have no idea how much this would mean to me. However, I know you still need to get settled in, so don't feel there is any rush.
