I was on that planet as well, I have yet to give that ability a try.
[As interesting and useful as breathing underwater was, he was still clearly hung up on Jarvis' first trick.
He reached for the cup and marveled a bit at the steam coming off the definitely day-old liquid.]
And you didn't have these gifts before? Just since arriving here. I had no idea they could do that.
You haven't found any ill-effects, have you? Loss of control, setting things on fire you didn't mean to like even a pillow or a towel? No extra fatigue or headaches?

[None he's noticed, anyway.]
... The augment in our necks help us control it, I think. I had paid credits toward them to give it to me -- after all, we've already got these devices in our bodies. I figure I might as well use it to my advantage, if I must endure having it at all.
[It was a bit of a risk at first, but so far, the worst risk is removing the blasted thing.]

[Most people without magic or similar abilities preferred to keep it that way, scared of what the power might allow them. For all Jarvis knew, he could be stepping into some gifted ability that caused him to light the sheets on fire instead of warm things up.]
Let me know if anything ever does feel off, all right? And...if you learn anything else new, I'd love to see it.

[Har har. He sounds like he totally doesn't believe he lives dangerously.]
I will let you know, either way... It's good to get a first-hand way of exploring these strange augments, at the very least.

As much as I don't really like the idea of using a person as a test subject, I have to admit I think it's a good thing as well. We won't learn anything about them doing nothing.

But I'd rather it be me than some other poor soul, I suppose.
[He likes most people on this fleet too much to leave it to them, you know!]
