One Fish, Two Fish, Blue Fish Mingle
Who: The crew of the SS Blue Fish and friends
Broadcast: Not necessarily?
Action: On the lovely Blue Fish
When: Month of October
[With the tragedy of Lyuku and the entire Eyuzi system behind the Fleet, the crew of the Blue Fish and their friends are now settling into a new routine while they drift along in the relative safety of space.
As one of the few ships that didn't suffer a loss of crew during their little excursion, the crew can safely go about their duties, unless something attacks that is.]

[Oh, Dorian- Sokka grimaces a little. ]
Uh- it's actually super gruesome- just as a pre-warning if you'd rather I soften that story up a little.

So I don't want to go into too much detail because they're always listening and everything. But they lost something important to them, Atroma, and they took it out on the hosts. Maybe Diamond and Beau had something to do with it, maybe they didn't- didn't matter to Atroma at all. So they uh-
Do you have drills where you come from?

[ You know, dwarves and their mining capabilities and what have you.
..Oh maker. He doesn't really like where this is going. ] They were an unfortunate casualty, I assume? And these Atroma, what? Thought to serve a lesson to everyone?

[It was not a fun time at all. ]
If you ever want to not sleep at night, it's probably still on the network history somewhere. Our new hosts don't seem to know what actually happened, they baulk away from the truth. So there's a good chance they're being lied to.

[ Made an example of. Ah yes, there's nothing quite like a public execution, is there? ]
Or, they know exactly what happened and are playing ignorance of it. It's a rather common ploy to garner either sympathy or innocence of the knowledge.

Oh yeah, that could be a thing too. I don't trust anyone from Atroma at all. They're all the same, with the fake smiles and the "gosh you must be having so much fun here!!!!". They act like we're all here willingly.

[ Such sarcasm. Much dry. ]
They really know how to make a man feel welcome.

Uh...blood magic? What's that? Just...out of curiosity. I mean, I guess the name speaks for itself. Magic with blood. But uh. Still. Just wondering.

It's a form of magic that is exactly how it sounds. The use of blood to fuel and strengthen spells. It sounds rather harmless on the surface, doesn't it? After all, what's a bit of your own blood spilled for a little more power? Of course it never ends there. There's never enough blood. Soon, you're sacrificing slaves in order to get the power you need. That much blood? It's always used to corrupt.
no subject
Oh. That's...really different to the kind I know back home. That's...really bad. Do slaves really get sacrificed? Isn't there a better way to power magic than that?

I want to say it's not common, but it does happen. [ Boy, this is awkward and also an awful topic. ] There's always a better way, but those who resort to blood magic regularly have difficulty accessing the Fade. So, no. Not for them. 'More is better' is typically the credo for the Magisters who rely on it.
...Of course, its use and legality are a bit blurred. Out in the open, of course it's never used. Behind closed doors? Absolutely it does.
[ Moral: Tevinter's really fucked up, bro. ]

That's awful. The fact they can get away with it. I can understand not having enough power, but there's always another way to live. One that doesn't involve killing other people.
no subject
One would think so, yes. Which is part of why I left my homeland. [ And gave up his future seat in the Magisterium among other things, but hey! He's doing what's right at the moment and he's far away from most blood magic. ]
no subject
I don't blame you. I hope you found something better...though it's still home, isn't it? Even with...all the bad stuff?

[ Hopefully there's something that can be done. ]
