sooner or later, god'll cut you down.

Who: Everyone
Broadcast: Yes
Action: Lato'li's orbit and also planetside.
When: Forward dated to 11/15.

[The Interceptor Fleet moves into position, waiting for the last few shield generators to fall. And in the early hours of the 15th, they do. The shield dissolves with a blip as if it was never there, leaving the man-eaters as prone as their prey. The Interceptors send out a transmission-- an unholy mix of Cockney and Australian that graces every available communicator-- if they answer it.]

We’re firin’! Do yer worst, Vieziri! We’re gonna kick yer sorry arses so hard you’ll kiss the moons!

[Five Interceptor ships swoop out of the dark and unload their various weaponry onto the Vieziri warships. At the same time, people stranded on the planet below ready the anti-aircraft guns onto their makers. And of course there is the Fleet itself, battered and yet beautiful across the velvet sky, as they fire everything they have.

Now the Vieziri start moving. Though the big red ship can’t do much maneuvering, the rest of the Vieziri warships certainly can. They fire back at the Interceptors and whoever else fires at them, willing to defend their leader and lose their lives in the process.

Luckily, the Interceptors have their own daring ships, which may look familiar to those who were here for the raider attack. One is emblazoned with racing stripes and flames all along the hull, and it moves so fast it nearly enters hyperspace. It’s there and gone in a flash, weaving past the enemy in crazy thrillseeking loops. Still another Interceptor ship is painted red and orange with a gold plate near the front, which reads BAMF with no explanation. This one has guns aplenty and easily weathers any duel it gets into. The third Interceptor ship is beautiful gold and black, sleek as hell and engineered with sense; this one packs the most gadgets and formidable guns of all calibers, and appears to do the most damage. Trailing behind is a much smaller ship, so nondescript it almost doesn’t stand out at all-- that is, until it forms a barrier to absorb some oncoming fire and reflect it back at the Vieziri.

There’s one ship that’s missing, though-- the one that was blown up several months ago after the heist. In its place is a small black ship that runs invisible to radar, sweeping past with silent speed as it lets loose a barrage of photon missiles onto the Vieziri flagship.

Down below, the Vieziri come out in full force-- one last stand before the warlord falls, trying to finish their fell rituals. Some of them rush the encampments, some go for the cities. Near the restored comms tower, a cloaked figure with a plain white mask fights their way through the onslaught using a plasma blade and a laser rifle.

After an hours-long siege, the big warship finally takes too much fire and breaks apart, lighting up the sky with falling shards like stars. The biggest debris burns up in orbit, but little pieces still rain down. It signals the end as the Vieziri begin to retreat both on ground and in the air. The loss of their leadership leaves them scattered and panicked.

The Fleet has won the day, but as the sun rises again over the wreckage, there is still plenty of work to be done.]

[ooc: Feel free to assume the Interceptors are helping your ships! The gold and black ship can be hailed and will give responses, as she’s been the main point of contact during this plot. You can also run into Zhade, though tags will be slow for both accounting for RL things. Please mark Zhade or Interceptors in the header of your toplevel if you’d like NPC interaction.

Any questions should be asked on the plot post for phase two.]

a. i'm a man with a plan

[once again, Sawyer is struck with just how similar all of this is to his own experiences. At least, minus the cannibal part. And the blood rituals part. And - okay, so it's similar enough to unsettle him. And if there's one thing that makes for an unhappy, overly sarcastic and grumpy Sawyer, it's being reminded in droves of what he lovingly calls Hell on Earth.

So when plans are put into place to take down generators and what-have-you on the planet, he's more than happy to oblige. While the appeal of space has long since faded, he'd rather be up there than in a jungle of mystery where every turn has him expecting to see a flash of blonde hair or worse, brunette. It sucks, and he hates it, and if he's maybe a little more merciless than he has to be when shooting a cannibal or defending himself, well, he's allowed.

Being human, though, he doesn't jump into the thick of it. He hangs back for the powered or whatever folk to do there thing, providing cover when necessary and making sure to get their back. Not his strong suit, but he isn't so dumb that he's going to run in guns ablazin' either.

Of course, you did order movie quotes and sarcastic one-liners with your back-up, right? Well even if you didn't, Sawyer's here to provide. And he doesn't care if you get the reference]

b. take a step back, man (wildcard)

[you'd think running around fighting would tire him out and shut him up, but boy would you be wrong. He might be exhausted after all of that, and looking forward to the Greatest Nap Ever (tm) once things settle enough that he can get back to the Heron, but sarcasm doesn't take a break. Nor do nicknames, although he's running a little short on permanent ones. But this is the part of the finale where he also just does what he's told - clean-up, carrying the wounded, yelling at the wounded for pretending they're fine - he's pretty good at it, too.

Does he ever shut up? Nope]

(if none of the prompts above work, let me know/feel free to come up with your own!)

[Guns ablazing isn't exactly how Sayid is trained to fight either, but at the very least, he's a little bit more used to that style of combat.

Given that they're both down on the planet, it seems almost like fate that Sayid and Sawyer end up assaulting the same generator installation. Once he'd seen the other man, Sayid had actually moved to work more closely in tandem with him. They might have their differences, but at least Saywer is a known entity to him. He - mostly? - understands how he works. Mostly.

For the time being, he's hanging back as well. Shooting from cover, taking out Vieziri as they become a threat to others. He's precise, almost calm in his aiming. Still, his face is grim.]

I haven't missed this.

[You'd think, since he was a soldier, this would be Sayid in his element. But it's been nice to have a relative respite from conflict and death.]

[this is too surreal, he thinks, because last he remembered things, Sayid wasn't exactly all there, nor was he . . . well, anything like this. Which probably works in his favor, because like hell does he want to deal with that while they're dealing with this mess.

He answers with a scoff, firing off a few rounds before he ducks back down to change the clip. Considering what went down on the island you'd think Sawyer would be used to this, but he doesn't think you ever fully get used to it. Nor does he want to]

Anyone who says they miss this crap is whacked in the head. [he taps the side of his head with the gun - safety briefly clicked on first, of course] Glad to know you ain't that crazy.

I have certain shipmates who seem to be almost thriving under the circumstances.

[Not that this fact actually...disproves Sawyer's point. Still, he's pretty sure Looma is not actually insane, merely from a culture that is wildly different. Mantis might be another thing entirely. Especially since his full codename is "Pyscho Mantis".

While Saywer reloads, Sayid keeps his gun trained on the battle, making sure that no enemies get too close to their position. Which, in a few moments, doesn't seem to be as likely as it was before.]

The fight is shifting. We may need to find different cover if we're going to be effective.

Thriving? [what] What, do they get off on this shit, or are they just real good at playin' war?

[actually . . . no, he doesn't want to know the answer to that, but he's pretty sure Sayid won't give him the joke-y answer anyway.

He peers out of their place of cover and frowns, considering. They could do that, or -]
Do we wanna be effective like this or effective in takin' down the rest of the generators?

[personal profile] redatheart 2017-11-26 04:23 am (UTC)(link)
[Sayid has his moments of humor, but this circumstance is not going to be one of them.]

They're both very adept at violence.

[Like he isn't. But he doesn't remotely enjoy it, whereas Looma is...more aggressive than he is. And willing to put herself in situations with conflict.

He considers Sawyer's question, looking around the wider area.]

Focusing on the generators is probably wiser.

So the latter. [he's glad that that's the answer and not something . . . less that he doesn't want to joke about. Great] 'Least they're on our side, I guess.

[Sawyer is about to argue his point, but - wait, did Sayid agree? Did they just make a plan together? Without arguing? Holy shit]

. . . all right. Think we wanna head that way, then. [and he jerks his head to the east]

[personal profile] redatheart 2017-12-04 02:02 am (UTC)(link)
[He could have argued. For the sake of it. But honestly, the quicker the generators are taken out the better. They need to get rid of those guns.

Besides. They're bound to agree once in a full moon. There's a precedent! Just don't count on it to happen often. He's still all too happy to call out Sawyer when he thinks he's actually wrong.

Sayid peers around the large rock he's behind to confirm Sawyer's direction, and then nods. The generators are all slightly spread out, in small clusters of two or three devices across the planet. It's not far to the next one - in fact, Sayid can see it's shape in the distance - but it's a small trek through some jungle to the next clearing.

Most of the fight at this generator is winding down, though there are still some Vieziri around.]

Move towards the treeline. I'll cover you.

[He is the soldier, after all. Or, was.]

[Sawyer can see them too, and he checks his weapon once more before shifting into a better crouch to sprint from]

I'm gonna aim for the big one right there - [he gestures with his gun] I'll cover ya when I get there.

[he opens his mouth for a smartass comment - gives Sayid a brief, but considering look - then decides against it and sprints off towards the trees.

He'll be an ass later]
