<sub>[ Kirk appears on the screen, and probably like many people he looks tired and a bit beaten up. Scratches not yet healed on his face, one even covered with a bandage on his cheek, that sort of drawn look around his eyes after all the sleepless nights and the battles and general horridness. A little to pale, perhaps.

Even so, he gives as warm a smile as he can as he begins to speak. ]</sub>

For those of you who might not know, I come from a world called Earth - or at least, one of the versions represented here. On my world, in the country I hail from, we celebrate something known as Thanksgiving roughly around this time of year if I've done my calculations correct. Some people call it Friendsgiving, but it's all the same really.

Essentially, it's a time to a give thanks for the good things in your life, your friends, and your family. In the spirit of that, I've arranged for a gathering at the Melting Pot - a thank you to Jarvis for that. Everyone who wishes to come is welcome.

I just thought we all could use a day, a place, to be together and to just enjoy each other. So I hope to see you there.

<sub>[ The restaurant is set up to allow as much mingling as possible when people arrive - places to sit, of course, but there's gentle music playing for those who might want to dance and just to give some atmosphere (but not loud enough to stop conversation at all). Food and drink is laid out - things to nibble on rather than the usual feasts associated with a Thanksgiving. Not particularly ideal, but it's what could be managed. Unless, of course, anyone decided to bring something else to add to the spread.

Not a fancy party, to be sure, but it's warm and inviting, which is what Kirk had hoped for. A place for them all to come together and enjoy each other and just be glad they were all there and if not quite completely whole, then, well, able to be there. ]

[It's definitely a nice change of pace to get off the planet. Thor isn't overly familiar with Thanksgiving - he had heard of it, courtesy of Jane and the Avengers - but it has a good sentiment to it. Plus, he gets to visit the Iskaulit for the first time, so why not?

He doesn't have any party attire, so he settles for just not wearing his armor chestplate. It does mean the healing cuts on his arms are visible... but that's no different from usual. Sleeves aren't necessary.

Thor can be found with a glass of ale in hand throughout the party, checking out the food and enjoying the lighter atmosphere. He doesn't know that many people yet, so he'll happily say hello if you catch his eye.]

It makes for a welcome change of pace, this gathering.

[Thor stands out. Is it his appearance? Is it the visible wounds? Is it the attire? You be the judge. This bracket refuses to be helpful and direct.] You look new. [She would have remembered this one, okay?] How much of a change did you need?

[Whatever it is, she has the measure of him. He grins a bit, not minding the correct assessment.]

That I am. I arrived mere days before the battle on the planet. I would say the change was well overdue, for that reason.

They really brought people in during all that? [Pause as she shakes her head.] I don't know why I sound surprised at that. Of course they did. Fun intro.

Kitty Pryde. [She offers a hand.]

I have had better arrivals, but I have also had worse. [It might be that he counts being banished to Earth as a harder arrival. At least this time he's had some practice at waking up on random planets.] I was at least capable of assisting in the battle.

[He takes her hand and shakes it.]

Thor, son of Odin. You sound as though you have a lot of experience with these Atroma.

<sub>[ Thor is rather hard to miss, if not because of his attire, than certainly because of his size and his looks. What? He's a handsome man, Kirk has no objections to admitting that. Far from. But he certainly looks new as well. Very new. He can't recall having seen him anywhere in the Fleet before now.

He raises his glass of scotch to that, as much of a smile on his face as his nicks and cuts will allow. ]</sub>

To be fair, the bar wasn't set all that high to begin with.

[He does cut a memorable figure. The newness must be obvious, he thinks, given people comment on it all the time. Thor raises his glass in return, and has to smile.]

Whether it's a high bar or not, I won't complain. I heard many people say that the situation on the planet was not what I should expect of the Fleet.

_{[ Kirk thought about that for a moment, considering that statement. He was not quite so sure it was true. He had been there about a year or so now, perhaps almost two - he was losing track - and while he could say the extreme nature of that planet was rare, to not expect it? ]}

My advice? Be prepared for rough and tumble. I would say it's true we are not always in such dire situations, but being in battle is something that does happen. The... darker aspects of that planet are not common, no, thank the stars.

_{[ He took a swig of his scotch as if to wash down the memories. ]}

[Thor listens, though he's not surprised by the warning. He's not yet been to a world that hasn't known conflict, and he wouldn't expect these far-flung parts of the universe to be any exception.]

Worry not - I am well accustomed to battle. What I have been told is that being shot down onto such a world is not commonplace here. I am glad to hear the attackers are also not common.

[Sokka spots Thor pretty easily (the guy is built like a WALL, wow, wandering over and waving his good arm- his other still bandaged and up in a sling. ]

Tell me about it. It's good to sit back and relax, especially for you, I mean, you got dropped right into the thick of it.

[At least he's an agreeable wall. He's glad to see Sokka though, now freed from the chaos of their first meeting.]

It wasn't ideal, but I am merely glad I was able to assist. How are you faring?

[The sling he's no doubt seen before now, but it never hurts to ask.]

I'm doing okay, not bleeding any more so that's a plus. Just gotta wait for it to be healed up, now.

[His tone suggests he isn't looking forward to the wait. ]

Hopefully you have time enough for that to happen. It would be unfortunate to run into further trouble while so many are affected from the last battle.

[It's been known to happen. Thor might have relished the challenge once, but he's not so young and hardheaded as he used to be.]

[Shiro also has a glass of ale that he carries with him as he mingles around, his little extrovert heart always happy to make small talk and meet new faces. Especially these new faces, poor souls that were dropped in the middle of one of the worst planets ever.]

After two catastrophic systems, this is exactly what the crew needed. I'm glad we were able to restock in time - proper food and drinks help lift the spirits better than gel, don't they?

The gels are disgusting.

[It's just terrible, really, compared to what he's used to. He takes a sip of his drink but what Shiro said has piqued his interest.]

You mean this is the second unfavourable place this fleet has entered?

[He can't help chuckling - why yes, the gels aren't exactly tasty. As an astroexplorer (aka astronaut), seeing everyone interact with space food is a funny experience, to say the least.

At the question, though, his faces becomes a bit more serious. A nod.] Usually it isn't so bad, but before the Vieziri, we visited a planet that got hit by a meteorite. We saved most of its people, thankfully, but it was still quite an experience. Some members of the crew got warning dreams before we arrived there, for both planets in fact. There's a third dream that may come soon, considering how accurate they've been so far.

[Sam's plum exhausted after that whole mess -- and bruised and mildly banged up with a few bandaids of his own, he's more than happy to sit down and actually drink a little bit. Fighting a bunch of cannibals and carrying a lady on your back for hours and hours really puts a cramp in your back and a little delirium to your thanksgiving rest.]

You're telling me. I'm hoping we actually get a break for once from the crazier stuff.

Month before this was dealing with giant meteors.

[As parties go, it has a high quotient of the battered and bruised. But that honestly just feels more like home for Thor, where battle victories were always followed by a feast. He gives Sam a nod though, because he certainly agrees with not wanting to follow that act with another too soon.]

I have not heard about the meteors yet. I must admit, it is hard to know what to expect from the Fleet, given the different tales about it.

[His eyes roll majestically to the skies, but he looks humored.]

I'd say just about anything's on the table, when you wonder what to expect...

Long story short... We had to help a civilization off their planet before it was destroyed.

It was... a hell of a week.

[Aren't you happy you don't have to worry about such a thing later? Huh? Right?]

[The kid in question isn't particularly dressed in party attire either! He's just in a Drift Fleet jumpsuit (thanks Atroma) and is sporting just a bruise on the forehead for all the fighting he'd done on the planet. He can think Miss Katie for healing his head when he hurt it crashing, though! His arm was still kind of sore... He just was careful not to move it around too much.

But this guy, he had gone and hurt himself. Maybe he was on the planet, too! Would explain a lot.

He flops down on the nearest seat, full of food and concern.]

[Thor looks down at the boy, raising his eyebrows a bit at the bruising. Were even children expected to go along with this farce? He chuckles at the question though, turning his free arm to look at it.]

Some of the Vieziri came too close for my liking. But worry not - they are just scratches.

Yeah, they're pretty awful, huh?? I'm glad we got outta there!

[He rubs a gloved hand against one eye; he's a little tired, sorry. Been a night!]

You might fight a lot, if you talk about scratches like that! I don't fight as much here as I did at home, but I get some pretty nasty scratches, too.

[Lance is taking a small break from dancing and eating, because even a party boy like him can get tired sometimes. Especially when he's still recovering from the whole planet of the cannibals thing. He catches eye of someone he hasn't come across yet at the Fleet, and--

Holy, wow. If he thought Shiro was built like a god, this guy had to be the god who created Shiro.]

A good party fixes most problems, in my experience. I mean, like... It's not gonna mend a broken leg or whatever so not everything, but there's something good to be said about lots of positive vibes, yeah?

Yes, of course. It mends the spirit. My people always celebrate after a decisive victory, broken legs or not.

[Literally nothing could stop a living Asgardian from joining a feast if they were hellbent on going.]

It makes for a better time than what we had on the planet.

The name's Lance, by the way! I don't think I've seen you around here yet, and you're kind of difficult to not notice, so I'm assuming you haven't been here a really long time.
