And Let Us Gather 'Round [ Video + Action ]
Who: Kirk and The Fine People of the Fleet
Broadcast: Yes
Action: On the Iskaulit, Specifically at the Melting Pot - Note: After the Broadcast
When: After they start heading away from the system
Video
[ Kirk appears on the screen, and probably like many people he looks tired and a bit beaten up. Scratches not yet healed on his face, one even covered with a bandage on his cheek, that sort of drawn look around his eyes after all the sleepless nights and the battles and general horridness. A little to pale, perhaps.
Even so, he gives as warm a smile as he can as he begins to speak. ]
For those of you who might not know, I come from a world called Earth - or at least, one of the versions represented here. On my world, in the country I hail from, we celebrate something known as Thanksgiving roughly around this time of year if I've done my calculations correct. Some people call it Friendsgiving, but it's all the same really.
Essentially, it's a time to a give thanks for the good things in your life, your friends, and your family. In the spirit of that, I've arranged for a gathering at the Melting Pot - a thank you to Jarvis for that. Everyone who wishes to come is welcome.
I just thought we all could use a day, a place, to be together and to just enjoy each other. So I hope to see you there.
Action: The Melting Pot
[ The restaurant is set up to allow as much mingling as possible when people arrive - places to sit, of course, but there's gentle music playing for those who might want to dance and just to give some atmosphere (but not loud enough to stop conversation at all). Food and drink is laid out - things to nibble on rather than the usual feasts associated with a Thanksgiving. Not particularly ideal, but it's what could be managed. Unless, of course, anyone decided to bring something else to add to the spread.
Not a fancy party, to be sure, but it's warm and inviting, which is what Kirk had hoped for. A place for them all to come together and enjoy each other and just be glad they were all there and if not quite completely whole, then, well, able to be there. ]
[ooc: Open mingle! Feel free to create your own starters and do as you like - tis a warm Friendsgiving party for the Fleet! ]

[idly he wonders if the influence of Black Friday madness has extended to space, but he doubts it. Or if it does, there's probably some weird alien spin on it]
That's one way to put it.
no subject
[ He says it far more gravely than one might expect, but you just don't know what Atroma might pull, James. YOU JUST DON'T KNOW.
Kirk shifted his glass and held out his hand to the other. ]
I haven't had the chance to meet you yet. I'm James Tiberius Kirk, Captain of the Tourist and the Enterprise. But you can just call me Jim.
no subject
You can call me Sawyer. Pleasure to meet ya, captain.
[holy shit. He makes a mental note to hold off on the Star Trek references around this guy]
no subject
Does my reputation precede me?
[ He let loose one of those charming, slightly crooked grins as he shook. ]
Nice to meet you, Sawyer. Thanks for coming out tonight. Hope you’re enjoying yourself, at least. I did try and stock up with the good stuff.
And please, just Jim. Or Kirk. I’ll answer to both really.

[he ain't even surprised anymore. This is what jamjar worlds have done to him] I appreciate it, and I'm enjoyin' myself as much as possible. [which really means . . . he has a drink. He's good]
I'll try to remember. Got a problem with a names sometimes.
[it isn't a problem when you just plain refuse to use them Sawyer]
no subject
Heh, that's all right. Hopefully I'm interesting enough that you do remember.
So, how long have you been with the Fleet?
no subject
Been here a couple of months, give or take. Came in right after all that madness on the big ship. How 'bout you?
no subject
[ He paused as he considered that, doing the mental math. ]
Uh, well, it might be coming on close to two years now...
no subject
Are you bein' serious?
[and he thought a few months was bad]
no subject
Yes, quite serious.
[ Sorry bro. ]
no subject
[he grumbles a little and finishes off his drink. Lovely]
no subject
[ He nodded to where Crowley sat. ]
He's been here the quite a few years. I think he has the longest track record right now, as far as being here goes.
[ He gave a little shrug. ]
Sucks, but at least the booze is nice, right?
no subject
[he isn't surprised; there's only exasperation in his voice]
Yeah, havin' booze is nice. Not havin' to quest for it or drink expired shit is real nice.
no subject
Well I am glad someone has a proper appreciation for them. Tyrion will be thrilled.
Hopefully we'll dock someplace nice, with good bars. I wouldn't mind finding something new to try. I almost miss Romulane Ale at this point.
no subject
[sawyer no that isn't what you learn to appreciate]
Wouldn't mind findin' a few bars myself. Is Romulan ale good or bad?
no subject
Oh, it's good, but it'll knock you on your ass after one bottle unless you're a Romulan. It's only for those kinds of nights.
