December Tourist Mingle
Who: Touristas + Friends
Broadcast: n/a
Action: The Tourist
When: The month of December
I. General Mingle
Have fun!
II. Let's talk!
[ Kara's been away. Since her stunt running through cannibal-infested forests planetside, she's only been back on the Tourist a handful of times, mostly for clothes and a suncharge. It's not that she's outright avoiding anyone, but her priorities have lied elsewhere. However, through her conversation with Pavel—observing his anxious opinions of the ship—she's decided that some good old fact-finding is in order.
Despite her own guilt over neglecting her crewmates (and not really knowing the most recent additions), she's decided to seek out her crewmates that she doesn't know so well or hasn't talked to about everything. She tries to be super casual about it, but it's clear she wants to Talk. ]
Hey, so, how's it going? It's been a minute, huh?

I already have an idea. [He'll just go sit down, folding his arms- brow furrowed. ]

Well, first, I want to apologize for running off like that. I didn't think I'd be too much of an asset and I wanted to see if Mon-El was okay...
But I've heard some pretty intense stuff about what happened when I left.
no subject
His tension manifested more as guarded body language and a carefully neutral expression.]
I'm sure no one blames you for wanting to check on others. There was plenty else to do that most of everyone helped with, the ship remained defended, so it makes sense you'd help elsewhere.
Since plenty of people seem more than willing to talk about what happened with the group effort, I have to assume you mean something about the Tourist itself?
[If that was the issue, he wasn't going to let it simply hang over their heads, might as well get whatever this was out there.]
no subject
Anders too seems to have some idea, if only from context clues. Wolfe's a bit at a loss.]
We handled ourselves, not to worry. I don't think there's anyone on this ship that isn't capable in a fight. We were attacked during the Fleet's assault on the cannibal's base, but we fought them off and the ship's obviously doing alright.
[Since they're spaceworthy and all.]
No harm done.
[He smiles, leaning back a bit in his seat, but not oblivious to the tension. What exactly is Kara getting at?]
no subject
What was going through your heads when you decided to decorate with enemy corpses?
no subject
It was a deterrent. It did its job just fine. They did not board our ship.
no subject
[He answers bluntly, clearly not at all deterred by her question or the fact that they'd did what they had, though he tamps down on any combatant tone that might try and slip in. She wasn't accusing them of anything yet, it seemed she simply wanted an explanation.]
As Fenris said, it was a deterrent. We knew they were intending to attack and board us and there was only the two of us left behind, we had to take measures to make sure we could fight back.
no subject
When Adalwolfe speaks, his voice is very neutral, diplomatic. He can see that Kara isn't trying to start a fight even if that's exactly what she's going to get from the other two men if she keeps phrasing things that way.]
You're off-put by it, we understand that, and it wasn't a decision that we made lightly. In order to protect our home, we had to make some temporary changes. Everything's been removed now and the dead laid to rest on pyres and the ship is fine. What we were trying to do was simply survive. Both Anders and I were grievously injured on the recent planet and even magic can only go so far in protecting us when we were running on limited rest and mana. With Jim, Pavel, and Fenris off helping all of the Fleet get free of that wretched place, we had to make do and that meant taking every avenue we could to protect ourselves and this ship.
[He leans back, regarding Kara a little bit like a patient teacher might regard a difficult student who just isn't getting it. There's a want to help her understand there and not an intention of being condescending. He hopes he's not coming off that way, but he wants her to actually think about their side of things instead of her own discomfort.]
It wasn't "decorating," Kara. We're not the sort of monsters who would do that for fun or aesthetic.
no subject
No, I know that. I wouldn't think of you like that, but we don't know each other very well, and you're coming from a very different place than where I'm coming from. We have other ways to deal with things like that and you shouldn't have been put in that position in the first place.
I'm sorry that I wasn't able to be there for you, though. I would have liked circumstances to be very different.
no subject
[It's just a survival tactic. As she continues, he frowns softly, concern in his features. ]
You were concerned for Mon-El. Were I in your position, I likely would have done the same thing. I doubt anyone can fault you for wishing to be with him in a time of crisis. Things were as they were. No one on our side died, and that's what is best to focus on.
[Which is about as close as 'look on the bright side' as Fenris gets. ]
no subject
It was done for necessity's sake, not fun, I assure you. It might seem strange to you that we can do it and let it go so easily, but that's the reality of where we come from.
We didn't mean to make any on this ship uncomfortable or alienated. We simply had our priorities as you had yours. I'm sure we'll learn those a bit better of each other as time goes on.
[He offers her a bit of a smile.]
Are we all right?

It was what it was and turned out as best as it could have. We're all alright, including your Mon-El, I hope?
[On this, he absolutely believes she made the right decision; if Anders had been on another ship when they went down, you can bet your life's savings that Wolfe would have been gone the second he regained his wits from the crash.]

[Except Kirk apparently, but whatever. ]
