[ Kara's been away. Since her stunt running through cannibal-infested forests planetside, she's only been back on the Tourist a handful of times, mostly for clothes and a suncharge. It's not that she's outright avoiding anyone, but her priorities have lied elsewhere. However, through her conversation with Pavel—observing his anxious opinions of the ship—she's decided that some good old fact-finding is in order.

Despite her own guilt over neglecting her crewmates (and not really knowing the most recent additions), she's decided to seek out her crewmates that she doesn't know so well or hasn't talked to about everything. She tries to be super casual about it, but it's clear she wants to Talk. ]

Hey, so, how's it going? It's been a minute, huh?

Is there a problem?

[Adalwolfe had been in the kitchen already, sitting at the table with his nose buried in his communicator. Not reading anything, but instead trying to regain his high score on Robot Unicorn Attack. Someone with the name 'ASS' in the roster had ousted him while he was asleep or whatever it was that caused them to wake back up on the Marsiva missing several months.

Now he looks up, regarding Kara with furrowed eyebrows.]

[Fenris can make a damn good guess what this is about already. It's not put him in the best of moods right from the get-go, so there's a definite tenseness to him as he enters the kitchen. ]

I already have an idea. [He'll just go sit down, folding his arms- brow furrowed. ]

[ her response to tension is to get even more smiley and laugh nervously ]

Well, first, I want to apologize for running off like that. I didn't think I'd be too much of an asset and I wanted to see if Mon-El was okay...

But I've heard some pretty intense stuff about what happened when I left.

_{[ If a minute counted as since the Friendsgiving party, then yes. He had a few ideas of what she might want to speak about, and he himself and not quite said everything he meant to at the party. He had kept it behind his teeth then, not wanting to sour the atmosphere of the event.

Coffee in hand, and feeling somewhat prepare for this, he goes to meet her. ]}

You wished to speak, Kara?

[ Kara's approach to Kirk is slightly different than it is for the newer crewmembers. she's a little more serious and composed ]

Yeah... so... I talked to Pavel and it sounds like things got pretty weird here after I left.

Define weird.

_{[ If she talked to Pavel, he knows what she probably means, but it has been a 'minute' so to speak since he had spoken to Chekov as well - sober, anyways. ]}

The corpses, Jim.

_{[ He gives Kara a deadpan sort of look, sipping from his Kara. ]}

Yes, the corpses. That was... a thing.

_{[ If she's wanting more than that, he's not going to give it so easily - especially since he's not sure what she wants from him about it, and he's not in the mood to play guessing games. ]}

Care to elaborate on that? I can't imagine a situation where you would have been okay with that happening.

You're right - I wasn't okay with it. I actually protested.

But I also realized that I could continue protesting that, while we were under constant attack, and anger the three responsible and shatter what actual working harmony we had - or just let it go. At the time, making sure we all made it out alive felt more important than picking fights over the state and placement of a corpse, however much I disliked it.

What were they thinking? It's horrific to even think about!

Pavel's not comfortable being on board anymore and I can't say I blame him.

I'm not saying they're right for doing it, but if you understand the world they come from, it's reasonable to see where the logic of it comes from. Their worlds are quite a bit more ruthless than what either of us is use to, I imagine. I won't deny that it served us well on that planet, though I have made a point of not encouraging it in future battles.

_{[ Because there would be future battles, wouldn't there? ]}

I am also well aware of Chekov's feelings about staying here right now.

_{[ The words on that lest sentence were were curt, more than he meant them to be. ]}

[ she just can't conceptualize a situation where it was a rational decision ]

How did it serve you well? What was the point?

I meant their ruthlessness, not the corpses.

As for the point? According to them, it was meant as a deterrent to keep others from attempting to attack the ship. A warning and scare tactic in one, I think. I can't fully wrap my head around it, myself.

[ she makes a gross-out face involuntarily ]

That's ridiculous. And barbaric.

I agree, but as I said, at the time, it would waste more energy and resources to argue it than just let it go. We had bigger things to worry about.

And, for them, it wasn't barbaric. It was a survival tactic. I can't fault them for that.

[Anders stood unobtrusively nearby, whatever he'd been fussing with before momentarily forgotten, when Kara and Fenris came in. He could sense the tension in Fenris like he'd practically just grown spikes made out of the stuff and it did little to put Anders at ease.

His tension manifested more as guarded body language and a carefully neutral expression.]

I'm sure no one blames you for wanting to check on others. There was plenty else to do that most of everyone helped with, the ship remained defended, so it makes sense you'd help elsewhere.

Since plenty of people seem more than willing to talk about what happened with the group effort, I have to assume you mean something about the Tourist itself?

[If that was the issue, he wasn't going to let it simply hang over their heads, might as well get whatever this was out there.]

Fenris' comment earns a glance from Wolfe, but he's honestly not sure what the problem is. While Pavel may have spoken to Fenris about his concerns, Wolfe hasn't heard anything about unrest in the crew from anyone.

Anders too seems to have some idea, if only from context clues. Wolfe's a bit at a loss.]

We handled ourselves, not to worry. I don't think there's anyone on this ship that isn't capable in a fight. We were attacked during the Fleet's assault on the cannibal's base, but we fought them off and the ship's obviously doing alright.

[Since they're spaceworthy and all.]

No harm done.

[He smiles, leaning back a bit in his seat, but not oblivious to the tension. What exactly is Kara getting at?]

It's a good thing I left when I did, then.

[ she hesitates, taking a moment to figure out her tack, and almost starting and stopping once or twice. maybe she should just go for it ]

What was going through your heads when you decided to decorate with enemy corpses?

_{[ At that, Kirk levels a hard look at her. ]}

And why is that Kara? Why is it good you left your crew in the middle of a crisis?

Because I wouldn't have let it happen, and you would've had a lot more drama to deal with.

[And there it was. Fenris exhales, a touch too sharply- but he;s trying to keep his temper. He's already had it out with Pavel over this, he could do without alienating more people he cares about. ]

It was a deterrent. It did its job just fine. They did not board our ship.

Clearly our priorities are different. I would have preferred the drama and with you there.

_{[ In other words, he is still very angry at you for running off. It
hurt on many different levels for him, and as exhausted as he is he can’t
find it yet in himself not to be angry about it still. ]}

[ she's not exactly pleased, either. everything feels so complicated lately, and the worst part is she's completely sympathetic to her anger at her about this. she chews the inside of her cheek trying to measure out her reply ]

I'm sorry that it upset you, but I don't regret doing what I did.
