[ Kara's been away. Since her stunt running through cannibal-infested forests planetside, she's only been back on the Tourist a handful of times, mostly for clothes and a suncharge. It's not that she's outright avoiding anyone, but her priorities have lied elsewhere. However, through her conversation with Pavel—observing his anxious opinions of the ship—she's decided that some good old fact-finding is in order.

Despite her own guilt over neglecting her crewmates (and not really knowing the most recent additions), she's decided to seek out her crewmates that she doesn't know so well or hasn't talked to about everything. She tries to be super casual about it, but it's clear she wants to Talk. ]

Hey, so, how's it going? It's been a minute, huh?

I do realize that, but she never spoke to anyone about it. She simply made the decision. As a captain, I don't know if I can say for sure she won't make a similar decision when we might need her most. That's what concerns me. That's what hurts.

_{[ He doesn't want to brush aside Kara's feelings or wanting to go to a loved one, but he still firmly believes in doing what is best for the group over what is best for the self. At least not without a discussion. ]}

It is, admittedly, a hard position to be empathetic with.

_{[ He doesn't like it, same as Chekov, but if he was honest, they had come across worse and as it had been done in the name of defense and not, say, some random whim, he found it easier to swallow. He laughs at the face Chekov makes. ]}

Or do you not like it because you can't claim it was made by the Russians?

She told me that she would not have left if she had thought we weren't able to defend ourselves. I believe her. [a pause] And things are different for her than they are for us. She has no crew at home, not the same as we do.

[Anyway. All of this is unpleasant and Chekov is unhappy enough without prolonging unpleasantness.]

Russians never would have made wine. Why drink alcohol that's only a quarter as potent as vodka or whisky?

It's a slow burn, and it doesn't scorch your throat quite so quickly.

I can't believe wine is the one thing you will not claim for the Russians.

There are a number of things that Russians didn't invent... although there are none I can think of right now.

I would like a noted list of things Russians didn't event, since it seems that list is quite small. I'm quite curious as I have clearly been mislead on my Russian history all these years.
