[They've been out most of the day - separately thanks to Wolfe's penchant for taking on a mess of odd jobs on any civilized planet they come across - but now that night is setting in it's getting a bit too cold even for Wolfe even with his Ferelden heritage. Anders is busy with some Warden thing with Riona (even if Wolfe doesn't consider either of them Wardens anymore without the Taint in their blood but they are old friends.) so that leaves Wolfe with some free time. Time he chooses to spend with a book out of Felix's library and with Hermione, settled in front of a roaring fire.]

This is a vast improvement over the last planet.

[ It's nice to have a few moments to relax and calm down, especially with how emotional the last few days have been. Hermione feels weighed down with it, her chest aching as she tries to sort through all her feelings while also focussing on her lab, her garden, her friends and now her pets... It's a lot, but she welcomes it all. The idea of it not being there for her to fall back on is a little bit more than just scary.

At least she has Wolfe at her side, and she feels as though he's watching over her, just a little, but she doesn't mind. ]

I think any planet without cannibals would be an improvement.

[He is absolutely watching over her whether she minds or not. Deal with it. He chuckles softly as he settles in with his tome.]

Alright, fair.

[He leans over a bit, into her space.]

How are you holding up?

[ There's not much she can do - he's very much the overprotective brother, and she's fine with that. ]

I've been better, I think.

[ Humming, softly, she shifts, moving a little closer. ]

It'll get easier. I'm just... Tired of it.

[wolfehawke]

[Well then, he's just going to tug her in against him and settle in like that instead. He's got a puffy, soft sweater on so hopefully that makes for a comfy head rest for her.]

I know, people coming and going, us not able to control any of it. But you've got to hope you make a positive contribution to people's lives just the same, even if it hurts for them to take that piece you've given them away. It's still worth it.

[ She shifts, wiggling a little, just to make herself comfortable. It doesn't take much to get her settled against him, and then she's humming quietly. ]

I'd like to think I did that. That I made him happy. [ Hermione breathes out, wrapping an arm around Wolfe. ] I think he deserved it.

I'm sure he did.

[She's warm from sitting here by the fire for longer than he has and he leans in just a bit, still cold from his running around all day.]

You've become a pretty excellent judge of character. You let me adopt you, after all.

[He nudges her a bit, trying to elicit a laugh.]

[ It's a good thing she likes him or she'd be shoving him away right now; instead, she leans closer, humming softly. ]

I'm not sure if it was me 'letting' you... [ But she does laugh, soft and quiet, leaning up to kiss his cheek. ] It was a very good decision on my part.

[She kisses his cheek and he beams at her fondly.]

Oh I'm completely certain if you hadn't wanted me around at the start you would have given me the boot immediately. As it is now, you're stuck. No taking it back!

[He half drapes on her theatrically, careful not to squash her with his bulk but definitely meaning for it to be the start of some sort of sibling-like wrestle.]

I wasn't informed of that clause -

[ But she's laughing, almost tumbling back as she shoves at him weakly. She'd never done this with Harry or Ron or Nico, so it's especially novel, her face creasing as she giggles. ]
