[He nods to the plan.]

If we close even half the distance first, it should make it easier to catch the bear once the chase begins.

It'll be even easier if it decides to chase after us. [Despite that, she really rather do the chasing, rather than being the chased. Especially by a bear.] Okay, its back is still turned. Let's move.

[Riona moves forward, trying to keep her steps light but flat footed as she begins to cross the ice. So far, the bear doesn't notice anything...]

[Thor follows suit, stepping as lightly as possible. He's been on hunts before and knows the value of stealth; being absolutely silent will never be a reality for him, though. It's just not his way. Still he keeps noise to a good minimum, and the bear appears none the wiser so far.

It isn't long before they reach the snow - phase two will soon begin.]

[Riona pauses at the snow line, readying herself for what's about to happen. With a nod towards Thor, she steps onto the snow. The first couple steps don't seem to alert the bear, but then, its ears perk up and it turns towards them. Riona freezes. The bear stares them down, moving its body to face them. It roars; clearly a warning to stay away.]

[A warning they don't intend to heed. Thor straightens up when the bear roars, drawing the sword he was fortunate enough to bring with him into the wilds. He speaks to Riona while keeping the bear's direct gaze:]

I'll go straight for it - swing around the side while it's distracted.

Right. [Riona's got her own sword at the ready as well as she circles around. She waits for her moment to strike as Thor goes straight for the bear. When she believes the bear to be entirely focused on Thor, she sprints, sword raised and swinging down into its side, tearing through flesh.]

[A head-first sprint towards the bear brings a rush of adrenaline. Not an unfamiliar one, either. How many times had Thor done similar things while hunting in the woods of Asgard? He can't get complacent though, dealing with an unfamiliar animal. While Riona goes wide and slashes the bear's middle, Thor takes the chance the bear's bellow of pain gives him to skid to a halt and take his own sword to its foreleg, aiming to cripple it.]

[Poor bear's not happy right now, to say the least. It lunges at Thor, jaws wide and ready to snap. Riona pulls her sword back and runs it through, eliciting another roar of pain from the animal. Having none of it, the bear turns and begins to run.]

Shit!

[The bear's jaws snap shut millimetres from Thor's arm, and he has the good sense to back up when Riona's blow distracts it. When it begins to retreat, he has to laugh, surprised.]

No one could claim it isn't determined!

[Determined to save its own skin. Thor hefts his sword again and hurls it like a spear, putting enough force into it to keep it on its path. Thankfully, the distance is short enough that it has no time to spin. The sword embeds itself in the bear's haunch, and it staggers with another growl of pain. And then it's swinging itself around again to try and lash out at its attackers.]

Determined to kill us! [Riona steps out of the way as the bear lashes out at them, jaws snapping. Though she keeps out of the way of its teeth, its claws are another issue. Since the bear can't exactly run now, it swipes at her, roaring to intimidate his attackers. It lunges again at her, claws swiping. It nicks her side, mostly shredding fabric more than skin. Riona hisses, ignoring the wound as she swings out her sword and slashes the bear's front leg, causing a considerably deeper wound.]

[It does seem that way. Without his sword, Thor's going to have to get more personal to bring the bear down. He dodges to the right when the bear swipes at them both, and curses when Riona is grazed. When her sword connects with the beast's leg, he takes his chance, running at the bear and grabbing it around the neck. Thor's a big guy, but that shouldn't be enough on its own to pull the bear off its feet.

But that's exactly what happens when Thor kicks off the ground, effectively throwing himself and the bear locked in his arms over 180 degrees to slam into the ice. The bear roars with frustration, legs kicking in the air, but Thor keeps his grip around its throat.]

Now, in the neck!

[There's a moment where Riona just stands there, gawking at the display as Thor goddamn suplexes the bear into the ice. Wrestling's not her forte, but she's pretty sure that's a hell of a thing he just managed.

Luckily his words snap her out of her awe and she sprints over, sword poised. The bear's legs kick at her, and she has to dodge and skirt away before she finally gets an opening. With a quick thrust, the blade sinks into the neck. The bear lets out a death gurgle before Riona yanks out the sword. The bear goes limp, the body slumping to the side.]

[Thor lets go of the bear once Riona's sword hits home, rolling back to his feet as the animal dies. He lets out a breath, wiping his bloody hands on his pants before turning to Riona with concern. He'd seen the bear land a hit on her.]

Are you all right?

I'm fine. Just a scratch, and I mean that literally. [There's a cut, and some blood, but it's a flesh wound and nothing more. Considering what they were up against, it could have been much worse.] Are you? I can't believe you managed to flip the animal...

[That's a relief. It could have been more serious, given the size of that thing's claws.]

Oh, yes, I'm fine. It's not ideal having to get that close to its jaws to do it, otherwise I would have tried it sooner.

[If he'd lost his sword at the same time, at least.]

You say that so lightly, like anyone can just throw a bear over their shoulder and smash it into the ground.

[Bud are you even human because she's starting to seriously doubt it]

[About that!]

Not everyone, no. But I can. [He's not shy about saying so either. He glances back at the bear's crumpled body.] At least it didn't possess any unknown talents.
