You're good. Promise. [ She waves a hand. Her best friends are absolute nerds and ask a billion questions per day. This ain't nothin'. ]

It's pretty much instinct. [ She holds up her hand, lets small charges of lightning crackle along the tips of her fingers. ] Like... when I first got it, I had no idea - just threw a punch and ended up electrocuting the target at the same time. Surprised the hell out of me, actually.

[Sayid nods, and then takes a small step in to get a better look at the display she's being so kind as to produce.]

I can only imagine. It must have been shocking.

[...If he notices or intended to make that pun, he's not actually acknowledging it.]

Does that mean your acquisition of the ability was also a surprise?

[ She blinks at the pun, wonders if he did that on purpose... acknowledges it with an amused little smirk, then carries on~ ]

Yeah. Uh... I died. Centuries ago. [ You know. nbd. ] Was brought back to life to fight a war, and this is the power I got to do it.

That is...absolutely an interesting confession. The being brought back part, that's actually kind of familiar to Sayid now. But the part where she was brought back centuries later.

Sayid blinks, and then nods slowly.]

Is that...a common occurrence, where you're from?

[ ... About that. ]

Uh... actually, yeah, it is. [ Welp. ] I still think it's weird as hell, but... there's a lot of us brought back.

[It's a very strange recruitment tactic, to say the least.]

[ She nods. ]

Guardians wield the Light to push back the Darkness. [ Her flat tone suggests she's essentially just reciting that. Then she shrugs. ] It's... how it is. Sometimes you hear about some that don't fight anymore. Or leave the solar system completely. But not much.

... Don't mean to talk your ear off about it. It's just not a normal situation.

[Sayid smiles a little at her sort-of apology and shakes his head slightly.]


I did ask. You've been kind to answer my questions.

[He has a few more, like "leave the solar system? and go where?" but...he does wonder if that's a subtle signal that Jayden is done talking. For now. Sayid decides to treat it as such. For a moment, he begins to turn towards the dummy he was about to practice with. But then he turns back to her.]

I don't suppose you'd like an actual opponent? I don't spar as often as I should, here.
