The last couple months have been an emotional rollercoaster, to say the least. Lots of ups and downs, and Riona finds herself in need of a break. A way to just get her mind off of everything. And then she remembers she's promised a number of people a movie night. The solution comes together easily from there, and she sets up a series of movie nights with her friends.

Once they arrive, there's a small area set up with some chairs, blankets and of course a viewing platform to watch the movies. There'll also be food and drink, whatever they both decide on.

Riona's been amassing a collection from different planets since she got in the fleet, and now they have quite a variety of genres to choose from:



Rom-Coms and Romances: There's quite the range, from rather sappy romances to outright cringe-worthy flicks. There are a couple gems in the collection, but most are just overly cheesy or stupid. If nothing else, they're good for a laugh and making sarcastic commentary.

Action: Explosions! Guns! Chases! Scantily clad women for no discernible reason! These run the gamut from serious thinkpieces to unabashed blockbusters with nary a cohesive plot to be found. Again, there are a few decent ones in the mix but most are just for sheer entertainment.

Horror: Spooooooky~ Good for a scare... and maybe some laughs. Gore fests or psychological thrillers abound. This is the smallest collection she has, but there are enough to pick from!

Comedy: When a laugh is needed. From trash humor filled with fart jokes to more subtle humor, there's a bit of something for every brand of humor.

Animation: People actually draw all of this! This is by far the most varied of Riona's collection. There's cutesy kid stuff, adventure flicks, and even a few heartbreakers.

Musical: Riona's favorite. Theater in its truest form, but with singing!! And not the stuffy opera kind either. Almost as varied as the animated stuff, there's quite a range, from romping comedies, romances, to tragedies.

Drama: But of course. Angst, revelations, twists and betrayals. These movies take themselves the most seriously. Some are quite decent, but others are laughable at times. Also great for making fun of if you feel inclined.

So come on over, pick a genre, and settle in for some fun times.

((OOC: This is closed to Riona and her CR. Anyone she knows and has talked to is open to this! Just pick a genre and also a movie if you have one in mind! Outside the ones in the fleet archives, any movie would probably need to be tweaked a little in terms of details (i.e names, places, etc) as it would likely have come from another world. [Though maybe in service of her own rescue? She hasn't been on screen for a while. Thor frowns at the screen.]

I feel for his situation, and yet I don't think he's thought this through.

They never are, really, but diplomacy only gets you so far.

[ Crossing her arms, she tilts her head. She thinks of the Ball, thinks of the Sentinels at the Temple of Mythal, and sighs. ]

He could have at least tried to have a plan.

If not at first, then surely now. There is time since he's wiped out this facility.

But there's no need for a plan nor diplomacy when everyone is dead, surely.

He still hasn't found his wife, though. There must be others holding her in another location.

Then that should be the time for an actual plan, don't you agree? They could murder her if they're unhappy.

Hmmm...

[Thor leans forward a bit, watching the movie intensely. The protagonist, out of henchmen to kill, leaves the building and enlists the help of a computer technician. Thor blows out a breath and chuckles.]

There, now he's thinking it through more.

[veilstrike]

[ She snorts, leaning back and crossing her arms. ]

This really isn't how it works.

[He grabs a handful of popcorn, tilting his head at Leilani.]

Well, no, of course not. These film things are absurd. This is actually one of the more sensible ones.

[veilstrike]

[ That popcorn looks weird, she's not particularly interested in it, even if he eats it by the handful. What is it. ]

This is the first one I have seen.

[Oh well, more for Thor then. He points at the screen, where Our Hero is now attempting to stitch up his own wounds. Because he doesn't need no doctor, etc.]

I have seen a few in my time on Earth. Some of my friends enjoy them. [Tony being the main offender.] They are similar enough to plays, just not as engaging. A lot of them are ridiculous as well.

[veilstrike]

[ Shifting, she lifts her legs up and tucks herself in a little, peering. ]

I prefer plays. They are at least a little more realistic. [ Though it might be the discrepancy between her world and the strange magical technology of this world. ] I don't like how little sense these make.

And dynamic. They change every performance, after all. These stay the same no matter how often you watch them.

Yet they are still a story, and that's worth something.

[veilstrike]

It would make it easier to see something you liked again. [ She nods her head, though, agreeing a little. ] It is remarkable how much they can do in so little time.

[rebuildyourruins]

They're very resourceful, yes. --oh, look.

[A building just exploded on screen.]

He's up to something again.

[veilstrike]

Are these common?

[ She trusts Thor's judgement. ]

The explosions?

In these sorts of movies, yes. They happen a lot.

[veilstrike]

When they write a film of my life I am going to request more explosions.

[rebuildyourruins]

[Thor grins.]

You want the spectacle, I take it?

[veilstrike]

It would be fitting. My story started with an explosion, it should end with one.

[rebuildyourruins]

That sounds like a thrilling tale already. I can see the worth in having more explosions.

[veilstrike]

Do you have lots of explosions, then? [ She's practically ignoring the movie, now, Thor is far more interesting. ] Mine are in my hand.

[rebuildyourruins]

Oh, so it's a skill of yours! No, I cannot make explosions. I wield lightning. Though I suppose used correctly I could blow things up that way.

[veilstrike]

I can use lightning too. [ HERE WE GO. ] It wasn't my speciality, but I used it when I needed to.

[It's a little off-putting to hear someone say that so casually, though he hides it well enough. Different universes, Thor.]
