[when the video begins, it focuses on a fairly large creature, sat in the cargo bay of the Caprine. It's sat on its hind legs with one paw raised in front of its face, claws flexing almost curiously. It then sighs, a bemused look crossing its face]

This isn't good. [it murmurs; for those who are familiar with Baku, her voice comes out of the giant creature, along with a deeper, more growly tone.

It's then that it notices the device, and with a low growl - that could be similar to any number of different animals - a big paw comes down on top of it, ending the video]


[later, she puts up another broadcast, only this time it's strictly voice only. She does not sound very happy]

Can a glitch keep someone from returning to their human form? Asking for a friend.

[at least her sense of humor is intact]

I guess, while I'm here - if anyone has any nightmares they'd like to get rid of, I'd be happy to eat them. It might be a power thing keeping me like this, I don't know.

[there's the faintest tone of teasing to her voice] The only "bad" thing that happens is that I see a nightmare when I eat it, which can make people uncomfortable. I don't talk about what I see, though.

Other than that, there's nothing bad. For the person, they don't remember any of their other dreams that night, and they do get a good night's sleep. And for me, I get a meal.

[Shinji listens attentively to the dream eater's explanation, even though what he's hearing makes him a little bit nervous. Or, more than a little bit nervous. Maybe a lot more than a little bit nervous.]

So if the dream is... [He exhales quietly, then inhales all at once, rallying himself.] Let's say the dream is bad--like, really bad--like it's just the worst thing ever--if that's how it is, it still won't make you feel sick or anything?

For beings like me, nightmares are tangible things. I've been told that to others, it looks like I'm eating a ball of television static. Which I suppose makes sense, as people's dreams appear as televisions to me.

[she explains, as if it's entirely normal]

Television static, huh? [He's never seen it before, but he thinks he can picture it.] I must admit that I've never thought about dreams as a tangible thing before.

[Vash decides to treat it as if it was a normal thing he was getting more information about.]

So what happens to the dreams you eat? Does that mean the person would never dream about that thing again?

The glitches can alter us physically, so it's entirely possible they'd be able to keep someone from returning to a form they usually keep. If this is happening to your 'friend' I'm sure it will pass. That said, I'm a healer, I could take a look, if you'd like.

But curiosity begs I ask, is that a magic you can do? Turn dreams into energy for yourself?

As for your curiosity . . . no, it isn't magic. I go into the realm of dreams, find the nightmare, and physically eat it. It turns into energy for me like food does for anyone else.

[Kogarasumaru has come to the cargo bay for another purpose but he stops when he sees Baku. Well Baku as Baku is meant to be. Rather than be startled or disturbed or anything of the sort, he smiles as he walks over quietly.]

[thank goodness for people who are used to her. When Kogarasumaru offers his hand, she reaches out with her trunk to pat it gently, as if amused by the offer]

Thank you? [compliments like that are so strange, though] I believe it's a glitch - from the augments we're given. I can't change back at the moment.

[She's not usually one for broadcasting, though she pays attention; she happens to catch sight of the creature when the device flares on accidentally.

Well. That was certainly interesting. Particularly when it's able to speak as well... still, she only notes it as a curiosity. It's later on when she picks up on another broadcast for the same source that she finds herself paying attention again.

She'd certainly poked through copious amounts of information, but those potential glitches... seemed concerning.]

Yes, unfortunately. I'm able to adjust to it, but sometimes I miscalculate.

[This person sounds dreamy himself, with a gauzy quality to his voice—he must be corporeal, surely, but he sounds like he could be far away, or right in your ear. This isn't an ethereal or supernatural thing; it just happens to be the way his voice works. Something warm, and something throaty underneath that.

It helps that he sounds like he's smiling.]

For you, it doesn't feel like anything - you won't even know I'm there. For me, it's like anyone would eat a meal. There's no real "feel" from it aside from satisfaction from a meal.
