[Ugh. He immediately looks irritated, though not directly at Ben.]

Not as far as I've tried. The augments at very least can't be burned out that way.

That really fucking sucks. [can't blame him for being pissed about it, Ben would be too]

It does. But it is only a setback, not a defeat.

[The Atroma are toast as soon as he can find them.]

Not a bad way to think about it. [he's not one for optimism, but he can appreciate it sometimes]

How long have you been here?

Hmm... it would be close to half a year now. More or less.

[His return trip home in the middle complicates matters, but he knows how long he's physically been here.]

Geez. [that seems like too long to him but then again, he's been here for two months and that's too much, too] Sucks, but I said that already. You using your godliness to win these competitions?

[lets change the subject to something a little less sucky]

Of course. I already have an edge for these physical challenges, it would be a disappointment to this system if I were not to use them.

An edge, huh. Yeah, couldn't tell. [he could absolutely tell, it's incredibly hard to miss] You're only doing the physical ones, then? Whatever team you're on is fuckin' lucky.

The Starstrikers do consider themselves so.

That's the black team, right? I bet they consider it so. Heard they're the team to beat in this place.

It is. They have had the most victories and with good reason. From the few I have met, they have some commendable talents among them.

What of yourself?

[privateeyed]

Me? [he waves a hand] I'm not on a team at the moment, but I've been joining the fights underground here and there. Not much of a team guy, if you get what I mean. Considering it, though - it makes more.

[rebuildyourruins]

I do, yes. [No judgement here either. There's plenty to enjoy about the competitions without being affiliated.] You mean the unsanctioned ones? Hmm, I did hear something about those.

[privateeyed]

Yeah, those. They're more my speed, not much of an athlete anymore. [implying you ever were, Ben, geez] And it's just fun getting the crap beat out of you while you beat the crap out of them. But that's me, I'm weird.

[Thor actually chuckles a bit at that.]

Well, whatever works for you. I have done plenty of that in my own time, but I am not of a mood to seek it out these days.

[It's only been a few short years by Thor's own reckoning, but his attitude towards battle and fighting has shifted dramatically. He's no longer one to seek out strife to prove himself or get satisfaction from a win. If there's a reason for a fight, he'll be there.]

. . . there's a mood you gotta be in to punch a dude? [you're weird, Thor] I wouldn't say it "works" for me, I'm just shit at most of the other stuff, or I have an unfair advantage.

[he might fight illegally but he wants a fair illegal fight ok]

Usually I would do it only if they deserve it.

[Thor's definition of 'they deserved it' can be very broad. It's still a definition though.]

If they signed up for a fight then they deserve it.

[though tbf Ben doesn't punch dudes if they don't deserve it either. Fights are fair game, though]

I mean, technically they're asking for it, so I don't feel bad. Meets all the "deserved it" requirements.

[he takes off the glasses he'd been considering earlier, giving them a look before he turns to pick up a few more pairs] Knowing my luck I'll lose these the second I put them down. Anyone ever tell you us mortals' eyes suck? 'Cuz they do.

Not specifically, no. I have seen a lot of you wearing those glasses though.

[Thor shrugs, picking up a pair of glasses himself to scrutinise. All mortal capabilities are less than his own.]

One of the first friends I made on Earth wears them. At least you have both eyes?

[Getting used to just having one has been an inconvenience.]

Huh, so you've been to Earth too? Well-traveled space not-pirate king, eh?

[but he snorts, shaking his head] Technically we match, but I got a fake, computer-y eye instead of an eyepatch. I'd rather rock the eyepatch.

I lived on Earth for a couple of years. I am very fond of it, and hope to go there again soon.

[Peering through the glasses - god, how does anyone put these on their face? - he blinks and turns his attention to Ben again.]

You have a replacement eye?

[Excuse him, he's going to look a bit closer and see if he can pick out which one it is.]

It's not a bad place, sometimes. Where'd you end up? States? Europe?

[he raises an eyebrow, but lowers the glasses so Thor can see them better. His right eye looks just a touch off] I have a couple of replacement bits, but yeah - replacement eye.
