[Well, that all sure happened. But at least you have the waystations! Whether you want to stock up on supplies, work, trade, or visit the very fancy Virtual Reality Dome, it's bound to be a nice break from the attacks of the 5th.

[ she would protest, but she's coughing up fake water still as she tries to gain her bearings. it's only once he sets her down and she's safely on dry land again that she answers: head bowed, lines bright with embarrassment. ]

Yes, I am fine, I-- [ she reaches up, wrings out what little 'water' has soaked her hair, ] I am terribly sorry for intruding, and for causing you such trouble, Ser.

[The ears say elf, as do the lines on her skin, but he's never seen markings such as these. He makes note, but doesn't stare.]

Please, don't apologize. I suppose conjuring up a lake should warrant some warning.

[Oops.]

[invigorates]

[ she opens her mouth to apologize again, stops herself just before the words spill forth from her lips. it leaves her silenced, for a moment, unsure of what to say. ]

'twas not your fault. I had made the mistake of assuming this room empty, and I should have been more careful. [ which is... kind of like another apology. oh well. ] Thank you, for assisting me though. I should ... not disturb you further.

[Try to bolt when he's introducing himself, a slightly amused smile on his lips.]

I insist, it's fine. And stay, if you'd like--though I can see why you might not want to revisit the lake. [That was an impressive dive...]

[ she finally looks up at him (like, way up), the lines on her skin pulsing with the quickening beat of her heart, glowing brightly still. ]

I am sure it is a beautiful lake, though I may have to admire it from a distance in the future. [ or at least watch where she's going. idiot. ]

It is a pleasure, Cullen, circumstances notwithstanding. [ another bow of her head - a good excuse to look elsewhere for a moment. ] I am Lioriley.

[That's... different, and he can't help but think of Fenris. And then he does he best not to think of lyrium.]

Ah, yes. The circumstances could certainly be better. I'm happy to see you weren't injured, Lioriley. Were you... looking for something or someone in particular?

[invigorates]

[ the introductions provide her enough time to mostly recover, and when she lifts her head again she seems slightly less tense than before. she shakes her head, ]

Only an empty room in which to see the capabilities of this machine, that is all. [ she glances around now that she has the time, noting the details of the landscape. ] Is this lake one you are familiar with?

It is, yes. It's a place from home. [Home home, not just his world in general.] I wasn't sure what the machine would do, but... it's not far off.

[invigorates]

So it can produce nearly exact replicas of our homelands... [ interesting. she is kind of glad she came here - sans the obvious part where she fell in a god damn lake - so she could see someone else create a piece of their home, before she tried it on her own. ]

It feels... strange, though, does it not? I cannot even feel the water on my skin anymore.

[serves]

[His hands brush over the loose white tunic he'd picked up on their last stop. It's not even sticking to his abs anymore.]

It's off, in little ways. Smaller than the water. Little details only I'd notice, I'm sure.

[The number of trees, the weather, the way the mist hangs in the air.]

[invigorates]

[ what a tragedy for the folks at home. ]

From what I see, it is magnificent. [ surely nothing to write home about, but the knowledge that it's from a land she does not know serves to make it all the more interesting.

finally, she dares to step toward the dock again, tentatively takes a few steps upon the wooden boards and looks out upon the water properly. ] I take it you frequented this place often, should you know such minute details of it?

[Magnificent? He chuckles under his breath, rubbing at the back of his neck.]

When I was younger, I often came here for the quiet. I spent a lot of time staring out at that water. It's nothing special compared to some of the other places in my world, but... it holds a lot of sentimental value.

[invigorates]

One would think it more special, when considering the sentimental value. [ she says sincerely, dark eyes flitting over to cullen once more. ]

Are you certain you do not wish me to leave you? I would hate to have disrupted your time alone. [ look she feels really bad about that. ]

[serves]

You're not intruding. [It's technically a public place, after all. And the company isn't bad at all.]

[invigorates]

Very well. [ she has little room to argue further. so instead she seems to relent, shoulders relaxing finally as she accepts her fate in... staying here on a quiet dock with a man who, so far as she's seen, is quite pleasant to speak with.

there's a few moments where she isn't certain what to say next, and silence befalls them until she settles on: ] I am curious to know more about your world, if you will indulge me. Certainly not all of it is like this, is it?

[He doesn't mind the silence, sensing she's a little... uncertain. So he lets her bring up the topic of conversation. It's not surprising what she chooses.]

How do you mean?

[invigorates]

Ah, what I mean is... [ she motions vaguely to the water, to the trees behind them, ] So quaint, so quiet and off the beaten-path. Do you have cities as well? Or only small villages? [ details, bro. ]

[serves]

We have both. My hometown is a small village, but we have larger cities, as well. Were you here for our last stop?

[fucking dirkwall........]

[invigorates]

Briefly, yes. Are your cities akin to that, by chance? [ she assumes that's what he's hinting at here. ]

[serves]

They are. Kirkwall, alarmingly so...

[They did that on purpose!!!]

[invigorates]

Kirkwall? [ never heard of it, tell her more. ] Were you... displeased by the similarities?

I don't enjoy being toyed with like this. It's no mere coincidence that the place was so similar to the city I knew. For reactions, surely.

[invigorates]

You believe they created a likeness of your city, simply to toy with you? What purpose would upsetting you to any degree serve...? [ she furrows her brows, confused and mildly annoyed by the prospect. if they did it to him, surely they could do the same to anyone else... ]

[serves]

Entertainment. Or so I'm told. [He'd be more okay with all the crazy things if not for that little tidbit.]

[invigorates]

It would seem 'Atroma' and whomever is watching us has a strange definition of the word 'entertainment.' Most would call such things torment. [ kind of like nearly blowing up the fleet. ]
