[Well, that all sure happened. But at least you have the waystations! Whether you want to stock up on supplies, work, trade, or visit the very fancy Virtual Reality Dome, it's bound to be a nice break from the attacks of the 5th.

[But that moment is long enough to get her attention, and Jove frowns as she reaches out to put her hand on his arm.]

Cullen, what is it?

It's... [nothing. But it's not nothing, and he rubs his forehead a little, not looking at Jove as he hesitantly admits what's on his mind.]

... I took you here, before. You said similar things.

Oh. I see...

[She remembers now why this felt familiar in the strangest way, can hear his voice clearly in her head. Did we go to Ferelden together?

Something important happened here, exactly here, and it's something that meant enough to Cullen that he'd recreate the setting. Not for the first time when it came to him, guilt swamps her.

He's not looking at her, so she settles for rubbing his arm. It isn't enough.]

I'm sorry, Cullen. I know that doesn't help anything but- but I am sorry.

[His hand presses over hers, giving it a squeeze.]

You don't need to apologize. It's all right.

[dawnwillcome]

[She nods, but this doesn't feel alright. It feels awkward and sad and she doesn't want to be the cause of that, not for Cullen. There's so much she'd like to say, from wishing she was who he remembered to some joke to lighten the mood, but nothing comes. When was the last time she was at a loss for words with Cullen of all people? He had always been easy to talk to, and now look at them.]

Perhaps I should go. It feels... wrong, I suppose, to be here when you haven't invited me me.

[serves]

[Silently, he offers her a hand. If he opens his mouth he'll surely stumble over himself.]

[She wishes he would try, though. A hand given after she says she should leave is a clear sign he'd like her to stay, but it doesn't tell her anything about what he's thinking. More and more she has no idea what he wants from her other than for her to be someone he remembers, and she has no idea how to make that happen. If she even wants to, rather than let it happen naturally.

She's unsure about so much, but not about wanting to slip her hand into his. She does, and squeezes his fingers lightly.]

[He's getting there. But not before leaning in and brushing his lips against her temple.]

I care for you, Jove. This Jove, or the Jove from several months ago, or the one that just woke up in Haven. The moments lost don't matter. I would have cared for you even if you hadn't given me a second glance.

[That gets a quick, breathy laugh from her.]

That would have been impossible, Cullen. Have you seen you? You draw the eye.

Yours is the only gaze I'd welcome.

Now you're just being charming so I'll kiss you.

That may have been a motive.

[Heh...]

[She's about to answer that with some joke, but then something he'd said reinserts itself into her memory and she pauses, gives him a curious look.]

The one that just woke up in Haven?

[serves]

Hm? [He tilts his head, curious.] What about that?

[dawnwillcome]

[How dare you act like that's nbd Cullen.]

That was just- well, we hardly knew each other then. We'd barely spoken.

[Ha ha ha about that...]

I already couldn't stop thinking about you.

[dawnwillcome]

[She really is surprised to hear this, but mostly it's because she had no idea she had been something that drew his eye from... well, the very beginning, apparently.]

And what was it that you were thinking?

[And now he's twelve.]

I thought you were very pretty.

[Oh creators help her, how can one human be this adorable?]

And more than that, I hope. I had just done the impossible.

[She reaches up to cup his cheek gently.]

You're very sweet, and far more romantic than I ever would have expected. [She should leave it there, stop pushing for details, but she can't. Not when she wants to know everything and Cullen is so painfully cute when he's flustered this way.] How long did it take to go from thinking I was pretty to wanting to kiss me?

[Oh, no. He can't help but lean into her touch. The corner of his mouth lifts into an embarrassed smile.]

I might have forgotten. [Nah. He knows. He just doesn't want to admit anything.]

[He would have been safer answering the question.]

I see. Well, that leads me to assume you skipped thinking about kissing me and jumped straight to imagining more... intimate things.

[His face heats up immediately. HE DID NOT.]

I respect you more than that.

You don't have to be embarrassed, Cullen, there's nothing wrong with a few less than chaste thoughts about someone you're attracted to.
