[The parties may have ended in most of the system, but at least in one corner, as the silver confetti and plastic cups are being swept up, it continues. This time it's not in celebration of the games but something - or someone - a little more personal to some of the members of the fleet. After all, Felix had promised, in a way.

A brief text message will be sent out the fleet]

There will be a celebration this evening in memory of our friend Lumiere, who has since departed the fleet. Regardless of whether you knew him, come enjoy yourself as I'm sure he would have wanted.

[The coordinates that follow lead to a small lounge-like venue near the beach in the Brightbirds territory. The main room is bright and cozy, hosting the featured entertainment for the night, orange-skinned men and women dancers in flowing, feathered, revealing garments who make sinuous circles around the room. Musicians with guitar-like instruments and drums play throughout the night, to accompany the dancers.

On the patio there is a buffet full of small finger foods like skewers of meat and candied fruits and various other decadently simple dishes. The bar is also nearby - though the drinks aren't free, they are available at a discount for the evening.

If you want a little more quiet, the patio leads directly out onto the beach, which is also set with small cushions and tables for you to enjoy your food and drink while you listen to the waves and the distant city lights reflected in the water]

[Vash grins and looks directly at her in return.] Yeah, I couldn't agree more.

Want to walk along the beach? I hear that's a popular thing for people to pretend they like doing.

Pretend? Why would they pretend that? Who doesn't like walking along the beach? [Seeing as beaches are a huge rarity to him the joke really is lost on him.]

Well, maybe they aren't really pretending. I just feel like I heard it as a standard line people would use about things they like back when we had more movies and books and stuff. And there aren't that many people who live by beaches.

Is that a yes or...?

[Vash nearly literally jumps to his feet as he holds out his arm for her to take like a "gentlemen".]

May I have this stroll?

[That gets an instant smile as she gets to her feet and takes his arm.] Yes. You're cute, you know that?

Cute? I was going for suave and handsome! [He tries to pout, but he's too busy grinning like an idiot as starts to lead them away from their seats.]

You know, I don't use the word handsome much. [He would not be the first to be upset he got something other than "handsome". She used to call Winn beautiful a lot and he protested, but she couldn't help it. He was beautiful to her. Handsome sounded lacking in comparison to her.] I could add gentlemanly?

I accept! But you could also add stoic, manly, dashing, stupendous, magnificent... [He continues on. Is he trying to push his luck? He sure is!]

It's like they always say, if you study hard and work harder eventually you can be some guy's arm candy and make him look better.

Yeah, because I would certainly look like crap without you here. [He gives her cheek a quick kiss.]

Ha! [He laughs because it is funny, but there's a slight strain to the laugh. Easy enough for most to miss it, but it's still there for someone tuned in to how Vash works. It will take a bit more time before he's actually comfortable with talking about himself.]

Actually, I got told that by someone else. I promise that I'm not that kind of plant.

[She gives his arm a squeeze. She may not be tuned in perfectly yet, but she's been working on it. Learning from a behavioral analyst helps, but so does being a mutant where your identity is different from the norm and it comes with a set of issues. She doesn't think it's the same for him. Especially since there are so few of his kind as to be practically unique. But there are some insights or at least sensitivities. Hunches in the moment.] I believe you. And, no, I didn't know about red. It sounds fitting for you though. Did your flower speaking friend say what blue meant?

She mostly told me about red flowers. They were her favorite. Although she did mention blue ones a couple times... [He drifts off for a moment trying to remember.] I think she said those are the ones that stand for love and desire.

So maybe I should start dyeing my coat blue instead of red.

My uniform is blue. I wonder if anyone I beat up felt loved and desired. [She smiles a little.]

I'm sure that they did! Being knocked out by such a beauty? They couldn't have asked for more!

[He can't help but chuckle lightly at the thought.] No. She's not the one I need to get home to. [He pauses a moment to remind himself that he shouldn't keep things so hidden from her.] I would like if she would come here. She, ah, she died back home. A long time ago when I was a kid.

[She gives him an, "oh you," look as he compliments her. It softens into thoughtfulness as he talks about her.]

I think I know who you mean. I saw her during calibrations? [That was quite the intimate exchange of things they don't normally talk about.]
